A comprehensive evaluation of ten regenerative agriculture labeling programs has revealed that the term “regenerative” carries no “universally accepted definition”, leaving consumers exposed to a marketplace where label rigor ranges from robust to less meaningful — and where some certified products are still grown using synthetic pesticides. The report identifies USDA Organic and standards built upon it, namely Regenerative Organic Certified and Real Organic Project, as the most enforceable benchmarks, since they prohibit all synthetic fertilizers and more than 900 otherwise-permitted synthetic pesticides. Analysts also draw a sharp distinction between “threshold” programs, which demand farmers meet a fixed high bar, and “pathway” programs like Regenified and Regenagri, which support gradual improvement but risk consumer confusion by displaying the same label regardless of how far along the regenerative journey a producer actually is.

Ducks Unlimited (DU) has announced a partnership with Regenified, becoming the first member of the newly launched Regenified Accredited Verifier Network (RAVN) — a move designed to scale credible, outcomes-based regenerative agriculture verification across North America. Set to go live in summer 2026, trained DU professionals will conduct both on-site and virtual verifications in accordance with Regenified’s proprietary 6-3-4™ Verification Standard, which assesses measurable improvements in soil health, biodiversity, and climate resilience.

Danish fashion giant BESTSELLER has committed USD 3 million to the Regenerative Fund for Nature — a fund originally established by Conservation International and Kering in 2021 — to support sheep farmers and shepherds in South Africa’s Eastern Cape in restoring grasslands, improving animal welfare, and building soil resilience against erosion and climate change. BESTSELLER’s entry into the fund — alongside existing partners Kering and Inditex — signals a broader shift in the fashion industry toward treating biodiversity and raw material landscape health not as separate ESG line items, but as foundational to long-term supply chain stability.

With cotton accounting for nearly 90 percent of its raw materials — approximately 30 percent of which was sourced from Pakistan in 2023 — Levi Strauss & Co. has launched the Levi’s Regenerative and Resilient Landscape Initiative (LRI) in Punjab’s Multan district, targeting one million hectares through a multi-stakeholder partnership with WWF-Pakistan and the Laudes Foundation. Just three months after its January 2026 launch, the initiative has already engaged nearly 600 farmers, established 20 farmer field schools, and collected 100 soil samples to establish baselines.
