I always wind up writing these lists when things are a little sideways. In times like June, where the Knicks euphoria carried the city, a list feels redundant. But on a week like this, with a parasite all over the lettuce and wildfire smoke all over the sky, gratitude takes a little more effort. It’s all the more necessary and I hope you take a few minutes to make one of your own.
This extreme weather is not new and is because of climate change and rich people not caring about other people’s lives. It makes me furious and it’s something we need action on. Thinking of everyone in Canada, the US, and around the world impacted by these wildfires.
Now, some things that are feeling good.
Justin Bieber’s Purpose Album. I’ve been listening to this album SO much and it’s full of hits: Sorry, Where are U Now, Company, and Love Yourself, plus some deep cuts. I remember listening to this album on lancha rides in Guatemala shortly after it came out in 2015 (I also loved the Sorry Latino Remix with J. Balvin). This summer feels very without a song but this is my current soundtrack. Give it a spin, you won’t regret it.
The CSA: I was already obsessed with my CSA before the cyclosphera outbreak and now I am even more obsessed. Having access to fresh, safe produce should not be a privilege. FWIW, our CSA share works out to about $28 a week which feels like a good value for the eggs and vegetables we get. It definitely cuts down on our grocery shopping. I get an email every Friday with the week’s contents and it’s one of the emails I look forward to the most
Anniversary celebrations: Not to compare apples to oranges, but my ex and I never really did much for our anniversary.
