How art is experienced and who is it really for?

This is the second object I created using the EufyMake E1. I wanted to transform a ‘Four in a Row’ game into an artwork by using the counters as a canvas and the wooden structure as the frame.

I created 2 abstract textures by spray painting over cotton buds and scanning tinfoil. These were then combined with photography and colourful overlays to produce my foundational image.

The counters were then placed on to a template I had measured out, to ensure the image would print exactly where I needed it to. 6 prints were then made, 1 column at a time.

After printing, the discs were removed from the paper template and dropped into the game to complete the piece.

Rirkrit Tiravanija is known for creating artworks centred around participation and shared experience rather than permanent objects. In works such as Untitled (Free) from 1992, he transformed gallery spaces into communal kitchens where he cooked and served Thai curry to visitors, turning everyday social interaction into the artwork itself. His practice often blurs the line between artist and audience, using conversation, hospitality, and temporary situations to question how art is experienced and who is it really for?
