Hello, My Fellow Creatives—
I hope this post finds you well and finding ways to stay cool and productive. This heat has been relentless! My recovery continues slowly but surely. When I move too fast or do too much, my body shuts me down with sharp painful reminder: I’m not in charge. I love how the body reminds us to stop and to rest.
That said, I’m hoping to see my play SIX DIRTY WORDS this weekend as part of the Decameron Project at Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks. Fingers crossed that I’m up for the outing!
More good news: PlayPenn has invited me to teach two sections of Writing to Win, Place, or Show this fall, beginning in October. Classes will meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6–9 p.m. Eastern / 3–6 p.m. Pacific. If you’re interested, please sign up—and please help spread the word to anyone who might be interested.

Preference given to KY playwrights, theme: What Could Go Wrong? A festival of plays about plans falling apart, unexpected problems, and characters trying to fix things before they get worse. We are looking for short plays that are funny, dramatic, chaotic, heartfelt, or surprising. The story should center around a plan that does not go the way it was supposed to. Maybe a simple task turns into a disaster. Maybe a character tries to fix one problem and accidentally creates five more. Maybe everything is under control until it absolutely is not.
Shows will be performed by students in the 6th-8th grade. Keep in mind submissions must be school and age-appropriate.
