Joey Largent · The Wind and the Water

self-shadow portrait, kırklareli, summer 2024 - zeiss ikon ikomat (120 BW film)

I felt
hands
upon the multiple

brushed cuts scanning
lasting imprinted
sands

we sway together
in the spring-silk clouds
imagine

only knowers of those
who watch us too
know we watch
each other

Smoked a cigarette in my dream
woke up to see
those stones held in silent moments of
passing gazes

for what fractures have I hidden
under my pillow at dawn
when the thin, night-angled watcher
does not wade
in dry veins of harmonic desire

when many truths dissolve
beneath your moon-soaked gowns,
sacrifice me as god’s
everlasting kindling

for you placed me under
the drunk thaw of the sun,
played abuata
and I melted into
an only child
