A note on form:
Last week I posted a villanelle (linked below) using an alternative rhyming scheme meant to simulate ocean waves crashing onto a shore.
This week I’ve presented another villanelle, this time using the traditional rhyming scheme, but because I cannot leave well enough alone, I’ve modified the stanza structure such that instead of five tercets followed by a single quatrain, I’ve divided the stanzas into lines of 5, 6, 6 and 2. This creative choice ensures each stanza begins with the same initial line in hopes of drawing additional attention to it.
