Bobby Wade · The Way Of Life

For seventy years, Yellowstone had no wolves. Government bounty programs had hunted them to extinction by 1926. Fewer predators looked like success, but it became a catastrophe.

Without wolves to hunt them, the elk population exploded and grazed without fear. They stripped the young willows and aspens along every riverbank before the trees could mature. Without the saplings, the beavers disappeared. Without beaver dams, the rivers lost their shape wider, shallower, eroding. Without healthy rivers and standing trees, the songbirds, the amphibians, the fish all quietly vanished. One missing predator, and an entire landscape came undone, piece by piece, for seventy years.

In 1995, wolves were released back into the park. They did nothing except be wolves again. But the system reorganised around them. The elk learned fear and stopped grazing the riverbanks. The willows came back. The beavers followed. The birds returned, the insects, hawks, eagles, even the water returned, the whole world that had been missing. One species, doing nothing but being exactly what it was built to be, rebuilt an entire world.

In or out of Yellowstone, the principle is the same: a being in its right place, in the sacred hoop of the ecosystem, has the power to restore everything around it.

An elder once told me during ceremony: “How you see me in here is how you see me out there.” The location might change. The way of being does not.

We are a bridge from the ancestral to the modern, a bridge that understands: without the ancestral, we cease to exist. Without water, fire, wind, and earth. Without spiritual connection, without movement, without medicine, without song, without healing. Without the indigenous teachings that kept our ancestors alive for thousands of years, there is no clear way forward.

We are losing this knowledge in real time. Our value systems have crumbled, and our connection to nature, to community, to the elders, to the children, is fading. We are ancestral beings living in a modern world, and we cannot lose our connection to the ancestral through a modern lens without losing ourselves. And if we do, what are we handing to the future generations?

This is why we are building a movement grounded in authenticity one that bridges the ancestral and the modern, and teaches through “lead by example leadership”: showing, not telling, what it looks like to live in alignment.

It is a worldview that learns from the master teachers like the wolf. A wolf being a wolf, giving itself permission to be itself, owning its power, playing its part in the sacred hoop of life changes the whole course of reality around it. A human being can do the same.

This is what we believe: that a human being, standing in their real power, connected to the ancestral, grounded in the earth, is a powerful transformative force on this planet.

We know that we cannot worry for the future generations while holding the power to change their path in this present moment. The work was never tomorrow’s to do. It is ours, now.

So let us learn from the master teachers like the wolf.

Return to alignment with yourself and the natural world. That is the medicine. That is the movement.

This is The Way of Life. And it is now.
