Nothing is as highly anticipated as an all-women’s getaway. Especially with your core group of friends you’ve known for more than 20 years.

The ‘Save the Date’ set the perfect tone.

Twenty years ago, my girlfriends and I started a monthly lunch. It was a reason to check in, catch up, dress up and, back then, do things our daughters will never (ever) know about... This gathering of glittery souls, from restaurant to dance floor and beyond, became known as MUNCH (Monthly Lunch).

As time went on, we had kids, some moved overseas, changed jobs, lifestyles and husbands…but we still managed to catch up, albeit just once a year. In turn, these occasions slowly became more elaborate, more anticipated and, theme by theme, increasingly grand - mostly in the privacy of someone’s home.

Last weekend’s trip to Queenstown, New Zealand, marked not only our 20th anniversary but also the 50th birthday of the Benjamin Button herself, the iconic Justine Cullen. (If you’re not already subscribed to her fantastic Stack, jump on now!)

The theme? 1976 Après-Ski.

The brief? was simple: NEVER break theme for three days straight, yes even at the airport.

We her 9 devoted followers took the mission very seriously. Naturally, there were hysterical texts, DMs, whatsapp’s and mood boards flying around for months. Vintage markets were scoured, wardrobes were raided, and online shopping tabs stayed permanently open on everything from faux fur jackets, earmuffs and boots to ski wear, UGGs, shimmering gowns, vintage accessories and Heattech skivvies.

Some of my favourite people in the world. With a surreal backdrop of Lake Hawea and the snow capped mountains.

The weekend’s events will remain mostly confidential and for good reason. However, you can head to my Instagram for a few of the highlights, including where we stayed and where we saunaed and of course what we wore. And don’t worry... I would never forget to make you an Après-Ski packing list. It was, indeed, an honour.

Just some of the excellent fun you can have with cool weather dressing.

So do it. Get it out of the group chat and into the air. This trip was the best kind of happy medicine on offer. Every time I think about it, my whole body smiles.

Thanks for being born Juzzie.

Who needs snow..? It’s all about the destination dressing and laughing till you cry (or pee your pants).

P.S. Before anyone asks... yes, a few fine fellows did make it into the lodge. It was controversial at first, but by the end of the weekend they had won us over with thier dance moves and earned honorary MUNCH status. Jason Momoa was also expected but, regrettably, failed to arrive.
