I could explain my own limiting beliefs better than most therapists.
Where they came from. The exact childhood moment each one got installed.
The neural-pathway theory, the polyvagal stuff, why my body braced every time I opened my banking app and what it was costing me down to the dollar.
I’d read the books — all of them — like every good firstborn, millennial, type-A, retired self-development junkie can.
And I still had every single one of them. Running the whole show.
I spent YEARS like this. And to be honest, it still happens in a sneaky way, as limiting SUBCONSCIOUS beliefs do (as per their name and last email)
Because here’s what nobody tells you: You can have an honorary PhD in your own patterns and still be quietly being run by them & not know it. Aka understanding a pattern & why you shouldn’t do it and actually behaving differently when you have the opportunity are two completely different things.
And the reason they’re so hard to catch is this: a limiting belief doesn’t feel like a belief. It feels like a fact.
It’s not the loud, dramatic thing you’d notice if you went looking. It’s woven so far into how you talk to yourself that you’ve never once questioned it — you just… live inside it. It’s making decisions for you all day long: what you go for, what you don’t, what you talk yourself out of before you’ve even finished the sentence. And you experience all of it as just being realistic.
The sneakiest ones don’t even surface. They stay SUBCONSCIOUS. You don’t get a memo. You just get a life that keeps hitting the same ceiling and a bank account that keeps landing on the same number.
But you can’t release what you can’t see. So before we ever get to the freedom part, we have to get good at catching it. Naming it. Dragging it out of the basement and into the light where you can finally look at the thing that’s been running your life this whole time.
Abandoning any creative entrepreneurial business idea I had to GO WORK FOR SOMEONE ELSE (and feeling genuinely excited about it, and like clockwork about 1-2 years in feeling unsatisfied, unhappy, daydreaming of my own business, and totally rebelling the longer i stayed)
Choosing the SAME PERSON again and again in a relationship (not literally the same person but the same personality, guy with commitment issues, the avoidant, the guy who seemed shiny and pretty but was a TERRIBLE boyfriend)
Believing I was just bad at making money or selling something because it didn’t come naturally (which leads me to my next one…)
Believing I will ALWAYS be bad at things that didn’t come naturally to me because I pretty much gave up on every single thing growing up that I wasn’t a “Lebron James level MASTER talent” at straight from the womb and never learned what happens when you ignore that thought, keep practicing, persevere, and take on the challenge (cut to me quitting softball, soccer, chess, gymnastics, singing, playing piano, public speaking, about 15 business ideas i started and stopped 5 months later for approx. 10 years)
But in the moment I didn’t know how to CHOOSE better, when to make the choice differently, and ultimately found myself again and again following what felt safe or familiar or easier/less scary but always ending up in the same spot - unhappy, unsatisfied, wanting more, ashamed, and pissed at myself that it happened AGAIN.
But I couldn’t release or change what i couldn’t see…. So before we ever get to the freedom part, we have to get good at catching it. Naming it. Dragging it out of the basement and into the light where we can finally look at it.
So here’s how you spot one. Some of these are mine, some of these are from the women who’ve done my Already HER series, but all of them are RELATABLE.

Okay. Day one! Btw, I recorded an audio for you in addition to the practice today because…idk…I guess I personally enjoy things where I can hear the person talking to me like we’re 2 friends chatting on the phone. It brings me the feeling of, oh yea, there’s a real person out there doing this also (Hi! It’s me, Christine lol). I dropped the audio down below if you choose to listen.
Read them slowly — and notice which ones make your stomach drop a little, or makes you cringe, or have a leg spasm or slight increase in your heart rate, or even a tear…
And i want to be clear, not all beliefs you have are LIMITING even if they fall under any of these categories.
What makes it limiting is….it bothers you. It feels like it’s limiting you, who you are, what you want is NOT POSSIBLE because you believe this thing.
For example. I want to make $5K more a month because it would ease the bill stress. And then your mind goes…..”YEAH (that would be nice, BUTTTT _________”
18 ways to identify a self-limiting belief (even if you KNOW, you’ll want to read these. I don’t spare ANY detail)
The one word every limiting belief hides inside — you say it ten times a day and never notice.
Why it gets louder right before a breakthrough, not quieter —
The sign you’ll actually argue for — defending your own limitation
Whose voice it’s really in.
Why the belief you think is the problem is never the real one — and how to find the one hiding underneath.
