Ten years ago this summer, I was introduced to this wonderful region in Southern France. I spent two months living with a family at their chambre d’hôtes (kind of like a bed and breakfast), volunteering with them for the summer. I spent my mornings cleaning rooms, and in the afternoons, I’d hop on my bike or take the bus, riding past sunflower fields, vineyards, and kiwi farms to small villages and towns. It was one of the most magical summers of my life, and if you can’t tell, I fell in love with Provence and have been back many times since.
Inside this guide, you’ll find my recommendations for eight different areas across Provence, including hotels, markets, villages, what to do, etc. At the end, there’s also a map of Provence and a 7–14 day itinerary to help you plan and organize your own trip.
Note: Marseille is not included in this guide yet.
