While it’s been a long time, I also imagine that the Lord has been busy at work. So with no time lost we find ourselves here again, discerning and discovering the beauty of the intersection which we all hold so dearly to our hearts, that of our faith and technology (or working in the technology industry).

The last post (from a too long ago) was about obedience and humility, and how these intersected in our professional lives. Today, we take a turn on something more “trendy,” that is: Artificial Intelligence. How and when should we leverage AI in our personal and professional lives? Consider the recent experiences people had with Fr. Justin, the Catholic Answers AI Priest. Yes, you read that right, a Catholic Answers AI Priest, released April 23rd was taken down and “laicized” only a few days later. I’ve heard many struggle with how we should leverage AI in our faith life, and even heard whether, or not, to use such technologies during our own New Evangelization efforts.

As we delve into the realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI), it's essential to tread carefully, especially when it intersects with matters as deeply personal as faith. The following maxim should give us some guardrails: “just because we can, doesn’t mean we should.” The recent buzz surrounding Fr. Justin, the AI Priest developed by Catholic Answers, brings to light crucial questions about the role of AI in our spiritual journey.

Firstly, let's acknowledge the allure of AI in our lives. Its potential to streamline processes, offer insights, and even provide companionship is undeniable.
