I'm done creating tarot content.

Picture it.

Sometime last week.

A newly purchased mid-year planner that started in August and would carry me, this Substack newsletter, and you, dear reader, through 2027 in a state of pure tarot content bliss lays before me on my coffee table.

The coffee is steaming, the keyboard is clacking, and I . . . am ripping my hair out.

I was on the third version of a Substack essay on the Death tarot card that, according to this planner (which I had oh-so-professionally dubbed my “editorial calendar”), was two weeks late and still going absolutely nowhere.

I gave up.

Look. I know that most of my phenomenal paid supporters do not meticulously count what they get from me each month and probably think something along the lines of, “Whatever, you’re smart and cool and I like to support writers I enjoy.”

And I love you for that!

But you know what? I meticulously count what you get from me each month! And I hate when I don’t deliver on the completely arbitrary and self-imposed schedule I hold myself to. What kind of writer am I if I can’t consistently produce high-quality content right on schedule? (Turns out, a very typical one actually.)

Then it hit me.

You know what I almost never have trouble thinking up, curating, mapping out, planning, creating, and delivering on schedule?

Curriculum.

My professor brain doesn’t think in terms of random weekly “content.” It thinks in terms of curriculum! Courses, syllabi, and workshop series! In fact, one of my favorite parts of being a professor is designing courses that make mythology, Shakespeare, or whatever else the English department has me teaching that semester exciting and approachable for students. And I found myself thinking, “Wait. Why can’t I do the same thing with my tarot community!?”

So starting September 1st, I am bringing that same energy to The Tarot Professor! We are going back to school, tarot style!

Our tarot semester starts on September 1st with the only math class you will ever catch this English professor teaching!

Magic Math: Numerology in the Tarot is a 3-week journey through the language of numbers woven throughout the tarot. Your three weekly lessons, posted to Substack and emailed to you, will be chock full of visuals, examples, downloadable resources, exercises and reflection questions for the homework lovers covering the following:

• Sept. 1: Introducing numerology through the Minor Arcana

• Sept. 8: Exploring personal numerology through the Major Arcana

• Sept. 15: Deepening our tarot readings with numerology

Plus, those of you who love online workshops and interactive Zoom discussions will also have the option to purchase the live component of Magic Math, which includes:

• a live Zoom workshop on Sunday 9/13 at 10:00 am PST; and

To give students who start Magic Math late or are still working through it at their own pace plenty of time, and because I’ll be spending the middle of October in Italy (!!!), October’s curriculum is a mini-course that doubles as a fun countdown to Halloween. Ghouls Just Want to Have Fun is for my myth and symbology lovers!

Our fall semester has already covered math, so you know there needs to be some juicy reading curriculum in there too!

Reading Between the Cards was inspired by one of the most common questions I get about tarot: “I know individual tarot card meanings like the back of my hand. But I still need help connecting them together to tell a tarot story!” You are not going to want to miss this one!

And finally, no fall semester is complete without a winter break. For our tarot break, I’ve planned a fun (and secular!) Tarot for the Advent 10-day challenge. I released this once before as a go-at-your-own-pace workbook, but I’m really looking forward to doing it together this December.

I know I said I’m done creating tarot content. I apologize for the theatrics. I didn’t mean entirely; I just meant randomly as stand-alone posts that don’t let me do what I do best, which is nerd out over fuller tarot topics and themes. Plus, I needed to make sure you read this post and got this exciting information! I’ve been dying to share it with you for, like, two weeks now and I was going to explode.
