Your Job Is Obedience. God's Job Is the Outcome

Have you ever felt like the weight of the world was resting on your shoulders?

You pray.

You work hard.

You make plans.

You try to make wise decisions.

But somewhere along the way, the pressure begins to build.

You start wondering...

“What if this doesn’t work?”

“What if I fail?”

“What if I made the wrong decision?”

“What if all of this effort is for nothing?”

If you’ve ever asked those questions, you’re not alone.

The truth is, most of our anxiety doesn’t come from today’s responsibilities.

It comes from tomorrow’s possibilities.

We spend so much time trying to control outcomes that we forget something incredibly important:

The outcome has never belonged to us.

Throughout this week we’ve been learning what it means to surrender our plans and trust God with the next step. Today we finish Week 10 with what may be the most freeing truth of all.

God never asked you to carry the results.

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts...”

Colossians 3:15 (KJV)

When most people think about peace, they think about the absence of problems.

But biblical peace is something much deeper.

Jesus never promised His followers a trouble-free life.

He promised His presence.

You can have peace while walking through uncertainty.

You can have peace while waiting for answers.

You can have peace while standing in the middle of a storm.

Why?

Because your confidence isn’t in your circumstances.

Your confidence is in Christ.

Colossians tells us to let the peace of God rule in our hearts.

That word “rule” paints the picture of an umpire making the final call.

Before you make a major decision...

Before you rush into another opportunity...

Before you react out of fear...

Stop and ask yourself:

Am I being led by God’s peace...or driven by pressure?

There’s a difference.

Pressure shouts.

Peace whispers.

Pressure says...

“You’re running out of time.”

“Someone else is getting ahead.”

“If you don’t act right now, you’ll miss your chance.”

God doesn’t lead His children that way.

He leads us with conviction.

He leads us with wisdom.

And even in difficult seasons, He leads us with peace.

The world tells us to chase every opportunity.

God tells us to seek His direction.

The world tells us that our value is measured by our accomplishments.

God reminds us that our identity is found in Him.

The world says everything depends on you.

God says,

“Be faithful, and trust Me with the rest.”

That’s the difference between living as an owner and living as a steward.

Owners believe success depends on them.

Stewards believe faithfulness honors God.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that God has given each of us an assignment.

But He hasn’t given us the same assignment.

Here’s mine.

Show up.

Pray.

Work with excellence.

Love people.

Tell the truth.

Stay faithful.

That’s my assignment.

The harvest isn’t.

The results aren’t.

The timing isn’t.

Those belong to God.

Paul reminds us in Galatians:

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

Notice what Paul doesn’t say.

He doesn’t tell us to produce the harvest.

He tells us not to grow weary in doing good.

That’s because only God can produce what only God can produce.

Our responsibility is obedience.

His responsibility is the increase.

We live in a culture that measures everything.

Followers.

Views.

Subscribers.

Sales.

Income.

Recognition.

Promotion.

There’s nothing wrong with celebrating growth.

But those things can never become the measure of your faithfulness.

Noah preached for years before the rain came.

Jeremiah faithfully proclaimed God’s Word with very little visible success.

The disciples looked like failures on Good Friday.

Then Sunday morning came.

God’s timetable has always been different from ours.

Don’t confuse delayed fruit with failed faithfulness.

God is always working, even when you can’t yet see the harvest.

Imagine how much lighter your life would feel if you truly believed this:

You don’t have to make everything happen.

You don’t have to force every door open.

You don’t have to control every outcome.

You simply have to be faithful today.

One act of obedience.

One prayer.

One conversation.

One decision to trust Him.

That’s enough.

Leave tomorrow in God’s hands.

He’s far better at carrying it than you are.

Before you end your day, think about one situation that’s causing you the most stress.

Maybe it’s your finances.

Maybe it’s your health.

Maybe it’s your ministry.

Maybe it’s your family.

Now ask yourself this question:

Am I trying to do God’s job?

Then pray this simple prayer:

“Lord, I release the outcome to You. My job is to obey. Your job is the harvest.”

Pray it until your heart believes it.

Let’s encourage one another to walk by faith instead of fear.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for reminding me that You never asked me to carry the weight of tomorrow.

Forgive me for trying to control outcomes that belong only to You.

Teach me to rest in Your peace instead of living under constant pressure.

Help me stay faithful in the small things and trust that You are working, even when I cannot see the results.

When fear tells me to strive harder, remind me to trust deeper.

I choose today to leave the harvest in Your hands.

My desire is simply to be faithful.

This week we’ve discovered three powerful truths about living as faithful stewards.

Sunday: We learned to surrender our plans before asking God to bless them.

Tuesday: We discovered that God rarely gives us the whole roadmap. He simply asks us to take the next step in faith.

Today: We’ve learned that our responsibility is obedience, while God’s responsibility is the outcome.

When you put those three truths together, something incredible happens.

The pressure begins to lift.

You stop striving.

You stop comparing.

You stop trying to control tomorrow.

Instead, you learn to faithfully walk with the Lord one day at a time.

That’s what stewardship looks like.

And that’s where real peace begins.
