walking along with the trees
             in Orbit—
I’m thinking of how they rotate around each other
       as I walk
as if I am the one still,
and they are spinning around me
when Earth carousels the Sun
 feels as Sun around Earth.
     perspective shifts
             spills—
a gravitational pull, in the distance; Earth to Moon—
such is our lives
  as fairytale
       as sonder

I learned how Sonder is a noun that describes the realisation that each random passer-by is living a life as vivid and complex as your own, filled with their ambitions, worries, routines, relationships, and inner worlds that you’ll never know about. The awareness that you are merely an extra in countless other people’s stories, just as they are extras in yours. That it was a word coined as part of a project ‘The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows’ which invents words for emotions that lack names.

I was walking in the park recently and had this juxtaposition of perspective in the trees, their movement and my stillness, a carousel of sorts. What theatre!

I’m in France now, near Bordeaux, in a campsite on the coast. Hoping to find more time to write. I hope you are feeling the glimpses of light.

I was at the CMAT gig in Dublin recently, she was brilliant!! Lifted an entire crowd with her lovely energy.

Keep with the pull of energy. It matters.

The melody to the words. Best played on shuffle.
