If you’re looking at your life and wondering why you’re not where you want to be or why other people seem to be thriving, when you’re the only one that’s struggling. Then you need to stop whatever you’re doing and pay close attention to this newsletter for the next 10 minutes.
Because you need to hear this.
The reason you’re not where you want to be is because you don’t know how to jump over the failure hurdle.
The single biggest breakthrough I made in my life was realizing that I was my own worst enemy. Yes, I was the one holding me back.
So here’s what I want you to do.
I want you to get a piece of paper and write down all the things you want to do and then next to those items, write down why you can’t make them happen?
Go ahead and do that right now, don’t worry, I can wait.
(Pause)
Did you complete the assignment?
Now that you have a personal list of all the things you want to accomplish and you’ve listed all the reasons why you can’t get them done, I want you to find the common thread between all those reasons.
Is it money? Is it time? Or is it something else?
The truth is the only reason why you can’t accomplish your goals is because you are holding yourself back. If the reason why you can’t get things done is because you don’t have enough time, then look at your schedule and start cancelling things you don’t need to do immediately.
If the reason is money, then stop spending money.
The truth is the reason why you feel stuck behind a wall is because you built a wall to stand in front of you, while you said to yourself, “let’s see how I can get around this obstacle?”
The reason why people love this newsletter so much is because I’m brutally honest. And in today’s day and age, there are less and less people who are willing to just tell you the truth.
And that includes your friends and family.
Everyone you know just wants to manage your feelings, instead of telling you what you need to hear. And as a result, you are standing behind a wall you built to block yourself from achieving your own dreams.
So here’s what you need to hear.
You need to stop being so spoiled.
Yes, you heard me. What’s so surprising to me is the number of people who live a certain lifestyle they can’t afford, simply because they are too embarrassed or ashamed to admit that they aren’t where they want to be in life at this point.
But those feelings are not helping you.
In fact, those negative feelings are making things worse. Not only are you staring down a wall that you built, but you’re also weighing yourself down with negative self-talk that holds you back.
Stop sabotaging your own progress and success.
The fact is there is no timeline for your life. Just because you didn’t hit your own benchmarks doesn’t mean you failed. If you thought you would be someplace by the time you were 30, but you made it at 31 or 32, why does that matter?
And yet, your own brain won’t let it go.
The harsh truth is you’re spending money that you should be saving, in order to fool the rest of the world into thinking you’ve made it, when the fact is you haven’t. And for what purpose?
Stop doing this.
That means, you should stop spending $2,000 a month on rent, when you should just live in your parents basement for $0 a month. And yes, I know how that’s going to make you feel, but isn’t that the point?
If this is your true purpose in life, you will make it happen eventually and maybe if you were in a situation where you desperately needed to get out - maybe you wouldn’t waste so much time coming up with excuses.
There’s one thing every failure in life has in common. And that thing is they all have a black hole of excuses they cling to, so that they never have to admit the truth to themselves.
But here’s the truth about failure.
Failure only happens when you finally give up.
Did you realize that?
Therefore, as long as you decide to keep going and try again, you can never be a failure. So here are the questions you need to ask yourself. Are you ready to give up? Or are you just frustrated with what’s going on right now?
Because if you just feel frustrated that actually means you care.
And when you care, that means you can’t be a failure.
At this point in your journey, the fact is you’ve hit the wall. And when you hit the wall, you have two choices. One, you can give up and admit failure or two, you can stop feeling sorry for yourself and start strategizing your next move.
The reason why some people succeed, while others fail is because most people decide to give up in this moment. When they get to the fork in the road, they choose to take the same path everyone else is taking, instead of going down the path less traveled.
Which path are you going to take?
That’s what you have to decide to do.
But here’s the point.
You might feel like a failure at this point, but unless you give up, the journey isn’t over yet. That means, if you stop feeling sorry for yourself and start analyzing what you’ve done, you might learn something new.
So what your idea didn’t work? So what you wasted a few thousand dollars? So what no one opted-in for your marketing campaign?
The question you need to ask yourself is, “what did I learn from this experience?”
Therefore, instead of spending the next 3 weeks wallowing in self-pity, why not spend the next few hours analyzing what went wrong and how you could fix it the next time. In other words, what learning lessons can you take from this experience?
Because winners never quit.
Whether you admire or hate Elon Musk, we all can agree that he’s not a failure. Not in life, not in business and not in creating something out of nothing. But what most people don’t know is that Space-X was a week away from total collapse.
For context, in the beginning Space-X was a company trying to do something that had never been done before. They wanted to figure out how to recycle rockets that get launched into space to somehow land safely back at the launch pad.
And before Space-X proved this could be done, every single scientist and rocket expert said Elon was crazy and out of his mind. And after the first six launches of Space-X, the critics were right.
Nothing was working. Every time Space-X launched a rocket it exploded or crashed. And as a result, Space-X was hemorrhaging money. The press and the space community laughed at Elon and called him names. But Elon wasn’t going to listen to the critics or put himself behind a wall of his own creation.
And this is what you need to start thinking about for yourself.
You’re in the same boat as Space-X. Everything you’re trying isn’t working and everyone is laughing at you for being a failure. But don’t forget that failure only happens when you finally give up.
Therefore, at this very moment, you’re preparing for the seventh launch.
With one week left of funds, Elon crossed his fingers and prayed to god that his seventh and final launch would be a success, otherwise Space-X would be done as a company.
And then suddenly, he wasn’t crazy anymore.
On the seventh launch, everything worked. The rocket not only went up in the air, but somehow the Space-X team landed it safely back on the launch pad.
The reason I included the Elon Musk, SpaceX story is because I feel its important to remind people that you decide the end of your story and no one else. Therefore, even though people may criticize you or tell you “your crazy or stupid,” this is your life and your path to follow.
And just like Elon Musk, you alone get to write the end of your story.
So what do you want it to look like?
For most of us, we aren’t trying to figure out how to safely land rockets back on the launch pad, which means what’s the real reason you can’t you be successful in life?
And that’s the point.
Whatever you’re trying to accomplish, the fact is you will be successful if you stop spending so much time worrying about what other people think and just focus on what you need to learn, in order to overcome your hurdles.
That’s right, you are the author of your own life.
Therefore, stop listening to all the noise outside of your mind and start listening to your mind telling you how to make things work.
If you’re new to this newsletter, then the reason I started writing about obstacles and jumping hurdles was because I wanted to teach people everything they should have learned in school, but didn’t.
And one of the things you should have learned in school is how to overcome the failure hurdle.
So what’s the next step?
At the end of this newsletter, you will see a comment button. I want you to use that button to tell people in our community what you’re trying to achieve in life. And then I want you to explain what hurdles are holding you back.
Because once you release those hurdles into the universe, they can no longer stop you from achieving your dreams. The fact is all the invisible walls and hurdles you feel that keep you from reaching your dreams are only in your mind. Therefore, when you release them into the universe they suddenly lose all power and weight.
Now you’re no longer stuck behind a wall. And now there’s nothing stopping you, but you.
And that’s the learning lesson of this newsletter.
So take a minute to think about what you want to release into the universe, and then hit the comment button and do it. In the end, the only person that gets to decide the end of your story is you - so hit the comment button and start writing it.
