To be a woman, is to know death and rebirth so intimately. Men are to consider themselves extremely lucky, if they ever get the opportunity to know life like we do.
Yes, a part of it is due to the fact that as women, we hold the power to create life within our hands — or, in more accurate terms, in our bodies. Our wombs hold the creative force of life itself. Each and every month, as we move through our unique cycles, the cells lining our uterus grow, shed, and replenish themselves, time and time again. This process leaves us with a unique set of hormones in any given week, and an opportunity to witness a version of ourselves die and become reborn again.
But for men, who are synched with the sun (unlike women, whose hormone cycles mimic that of the moon), their death and rebirth is much more fleeting. As they operate on a 24-hour cycle, the time spent tenderly within each chapter is gone as quickly as it comes. A man is often not present enough within his day, to meet the threshold that every hormonal surge asks him to walk through. In fact, he replaces the invitation with logical bodily need, opting for a snack, nap, workout, or quick fuck instead — something that satiates the animalistic part of his brain that mistakes the surge as something wrong, something to be fixed, a thirst that must be quenched, rather than an invitation towards surrender and initiation — and thus, men stay disconnected from their cycles and their bodies.
That all changes, during tonight’s solar eclipse in Leo.
