In this clip from our Substack Live, Louis Weinstock and I reflect on parenting, neurodiversity, social media overwhelm, and the growing need for spaces where parents can pause, reflect, and feel less alone.
“You and I, Louis, have been working in this field for a long time. I’ve worked as a clinical psychologist with children and families for 20 years, and I’ve seen the whole landscape change since I was a trainee psychologist in 2006. It feels like we’ve shifted from talking about mental health to talking about neurodiversity and that’s certainly reflected in my work with children, teenagers, and parents. There’s so much more awareness now. Young people come in looking for explanations and understanding. I see the whole spectrum — but I also see a lot of confusion. And honestly, I feel overwhelmed at times too by the huge amount of information on social media. Instagram, algorithms, influencers, therapists online… there’s so much information. In many ways it's positive that we're so much more aware. But it can be incredibly difficult as a parent to know: Am I doing the right thing for my child? Because every parent simply wants to do the best for their child.”
That’s exactly why Louis and I have created Beyond Labels, a lab for parents raising neurodivergent and highly sensitive children. It's a structured and guided space for parents to exhale. A space to breathe, think, reflect, and feel less alone in the complexity of raising neurodivergent and highly sensitive children.
Raising a sensitive, intense, deeply feeling, or neurodivergent child can bring a constant sense of adapting, anticipating, researching, and second-guessing yourself. Managing big emotions, navigating daily transitions, holding the tension between what your child needs and what the world expects of them, it can be exhausting and, at times, deeply isolating.
Many parents are carrying far more than others can see, often without the support or “village” that makes this sustainable. And underneath it all can sit the question:
“Am I doing this in the right way?”
Whether your child has a diagnosis, doesn’t have a diagnosis, or simply doesn’t fit the mould, this is a space for parents to pause, breathe, reflect, and connect with other parents navigating similar experiences.
We’re not creating another space filled with endless tools, tips, and answers, as there are already so many amazing resources available. Instead, this is a space for thoughtful conversations, support, and curiosity about our children beyond labels.

I write the Resonant Parenting Project in between my work as a conscious parenting coach and looking after my eight-year-old daughter Matilda. Any support from readers through liking, sharing or subscribing helps make this work sustainable. Thank you!
