The Renaissance marked the break of an almost 1000 year period after the fall of Rome. It was the ending of the medieval period and the beginning of the early modern. A moment of immense generativity in the arts, the renaissance brought deep return to sources in ancient cultures, and a paradigm shift in the understanding of man. The revelation of the New World transformed and expanded the horizons of the world irreversibly.
Renaissance at its core meant rebirth.
During the Month of the Second Renaissance, we’ll explore how our global metacrisis can also be a moment of rebirth—sensing into what paradigm shifts are already underway and how we can participate in them.
Jacob Kishere will lead an opening session exploring the historical significance of the Renaissance for today. We’ll then be joined by guest facilitator O.G. Rose to imagine what it means to be a Renaissance man today— to forge our creative vision in service of cultural creation.

We’ll look at how we can relate to the joining of arts and sciences, relating with power and finance and connecting ancient wisdom with new innovation and foster the conditions for renaissance. We’ll then be joined by Rufus Pollock, who has pioneered the “Second Renaissance” project through his organisation Life Itself . Rufus will lead us in an exploration of the “seeds of the second renaissance” in the culture today.
His exploration of the Second Renaissance will draw upon years of experience working with NGOs, intentional communities and sensemaking the metacrisis, as well as series of research white papers.
