A lot of us work in Patient Support because we feel like it is one of the few places in pharma where we can still hold onto a little piece of our souls.

Aside from clinical research, Patient Support is where the work can still feel close to the Patient. Close to the person.

And… the money can be good.

Shockingly good, if you came from clinics, hospitals, social work, or public health.

It may not rival the biggest sales compensation numbers, but it definitely beats what many of us would make in the more obviously mission-driven parts of healthcare.

My annual take-home pay more than doubled when I went from working as a hospital administrator to a pharma Patient Support operations role.

About eighteen months after I started that biotech job, a physician leader whom I genuinely liked, and for whom I have tremendous respect, took me out to coffee.
