Rachel Lipson | The Point · The Point

The Point is a smart, thoughtful dispatch on elevated travel with points and miles. The Point has been featured in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Condé Nast and more and is a top ~40 bestseller in travel. So glad you’re here!

This summer, one of the two weekly posts here (most weeks) will be from my Postcards series, featuring photos and stories from our season of travels. Thanks for being here and following along!

To travel with points, you need points (and not just any points):

Here’s the #1 travel card. If you don’t have it, I recommend it.

And here’s my favorite card if you’re looking to earn points on restaurants and groceries, but remember, it’s best to get this one if you’re over 5/24.

A bunch of business cards have elevated bonuses right now. Not sure if you qualify for a business card? You might be surprised.

  • Two business cards (this one and this one) are offering a 100,000 point welcome bonus and no annual fee. This one gets 1.5x on all purchases making it a first choice.

  • This card has a 200,000 point bonus. Crazy high! I recommend this one for anyone that can meet the spend. The annual fee is always worth it for the first year. You can always cancel after the first year, since it’s a business card and doesn’t report to your personal credit report.

  • This card and this one have bonuses up to 200,000 and 300,000 points. Same situation as above - worth it always for the first year at the very least!

Note: I am not keeping things a secret by being vague, there are rules I have to follow regarding saying names of cards and banks!

I appreciate it very much when you use my links anytime you apply for cards.

Dm or email me with questions and I can help :)

Curious how you can earn hundreds of thousands of points on your everyday spending?

I’ll be sharing a Florence city edit in the coming weeks but in the meantime, enjoy these snapshots from our trip sans kids this summer. At the end of the post, for paid subscribers, you’ll find notes on each photo, a few bookings I’d recommend making in advance if you’re planning a trip and the code to join the Point Salon (live Zoom Q&A) for free in September!

Here are my postcards to you ❤️

Buildings and bridges
covered in marble and hand painted inside
rooftop views
and 400 year old silk.
Rooms with character
churches
squares
someone else’s wedding photos by the river
and homes in interesting places.
Farmers market finds
flea markets
leather wizardry
silk spun on centuries-old wooden looms
and shops that make sure your gloves fit.
Art to travel for
and paintings in unexpected places
a postcard for you ❤️

If you liked this piece, please heart it and re-stack it.

For our paid subscribers - here is a list of every place you see in these photos, the hotel we stayed at (including the room number I’d recommend booking with kids) and the restaurant we’d book again the next time we go back.

Plus: a code to claim your complimentary seat at the September live Point Salon on zoom ($25 for free subscribers, free for paid subscribers).
