Undeveloping

I'm keeping watch across the door, Standing in the rain You're falling free in love, Time lapse photography. The moments fast, Remembered leisurely. I'm keeping watch across the door, Sitting in the rain. The days together, Sepia, A series, Burst of shots Of intimate seconds And animated laughter Only analyzed Years after. I'm keeping watch across the door, Lying in the rain. The end, A slow…

Layers

The planks dissolved again. I tumbled endlessly Through layers grey, Unsure, uncertain. Darkness shot between The blaring panels white. When I am lost, My mind will stray about Until the harsh contrasts Relax and melt, Revealing narrow eyes That scatter shades ambivalent, Her lips impossibly So soft Cascading over And across Descending. - 8/20/26

Tomorrow

It is nothing like The nights we both Were younger, Kisses drier, Cotton crisper Than your pleats Now puddled On the carpet. Tomorrow, Neither you nor I Will smile While thinking Of this, Your regret, My hunger. - 8/19/26

Ade

The summer presses over us. Sugar lemon water Pours between our lips. And to you, It's just a stop for gas. You think my ass is cute, My hair's endearingly too long. For me, It is the chorus to every yearning song I've written since my teens. - 8/18/26

If Only

My potential love, If only we could both be bold The same moment. - 8/11/26

Odds

You remember Honeysuckle kisses in the naughty breezes. Quite romantic, Taking chances on your love, But odds can wink and odds can flee. Your money flew on the pile. The queen was not inside your draw. You spent the evening Staring at the empty table, Drinking bourbon till your words were swimming, Tangled in the strings and strains of nectar dew. - 8/10/26

Ample Cloud

You are an ample cloud on earth. I walk through you, But my fingers Hungry Foolish Find a humid emptiness. Today, Your flooding eyes I swam around. I stole below And felt your heavy misty presence Even in the unreliable and shifting Tides. You're space that's lacking mass. I cannot grasp, But gravity defiant Jars my anchored thoughts And hauls me up and over To your atomized embrace. - 8/6/26

Friday Night

Everybody's girlfriend wants me, I A strange and shiny charm, A question mark in grey, A raft unmanned Adrift. - 8/5/26

Always Alone

She's a slightly plumper Young Scarlett Johansson. She inquires about my hidden desires. She is loving Running hands throughout my hair And recommending a conditioner treatment. My every friend would be in love. She isn't right for me. The humid breezes blew me wild, Tangled me in other wires. I burst in autumn, Rocket through the winter, But I'm always alone in September. - 8/4/26

School Playground at Night

The air is still. I smell your powder As you sit on top the swing, Your skin the moon, Your face brushed soft By edges of the light Above the parking lot. You open like a hope chest. Secrets pass unfolded, Delicate. I read them hungry Though with care. Inside this quiet night, I memorize you. And I know for you It isn't love. I know you need An intimate release, A safe transfer of documents, A…

Dark, Robust

You pour in, Fill me, A strong and smoky swallow Warming, nearly glowing. You stir the mundane world And lighten me. This brewed so long, Forever. I sip Seeing flashes Joyful I believed far past. - 7/27/26

Stage Left

When I've spent too long Exploring her reflecting eyes, She moves as if through jelly, Floods of maple syrup, Inching past me in minutes Stretched thinly, Threatening to tear. She leaves as if escaping, Lacking pause, Or interruption, A regret, Or sentiment. I always give myself To the clueless, Careless, Kind yet unaffected. I long to see somebody Examining me, Studying my exiting. - 7/24/26
