To honor the last couple of hours of June - my favorite month of the year - I’m sharing a scrap of a poem I’ve composed just today during a virtual gathering, Moss Mother Moon, in honor of the Strawberry Moon, hosted by one of my favorite writers, Kerri ní Dochartaig. This was my second time attending the circle, the first time having been back in March for the Sugar Moon. I enjoyed myself immensely and was reminded of how much I treasure being in the company of nurturing, creative women.

For many indigenous peoples, the Strawberry Moon is also known as the Blooming Moon (Anishinaabe), Green Corn Moon (Cherokee), Hoer Moon (Western Abenaki), Birth Moon (Tlingit), Egg Laying Moon, and Hatching Moon (Cree).
