The Power of Piss at Sherri’s Ranch in Nevada
You may know Sherri’s Ranch as a customer, as a worker, or from the recent news—Brothel workers at Sherri’s Ranch in Nevada are unionizing! Sign the petition to support them and read more about their fight for protection from an exploitative new contract here.
Otherwise—I had to include Sherri’s Ranch on this edition of the digest, because I found out about a very interesting ritual the workers there practice, using the power of piss from this 23 Feb 2026 article in Esquire by Iranian brothel worker Paloma Karr. You all know I love my BIPOC swers doing magic.
Read the relevant excerpt below:
I find this fascinating. Who started this ritual? is the main question on my mind.
Urine is quite a common ingredient in spellwork (IYKYK). Urine isn’t, however, typically the first body fluid I turn to for drawing in money, so I found this particularly interesting. There’s something about the acidic/astringent qualities of urine that signals more “go away” than “come hither” to me, but I absolutely understand the logic of putting oneself in the earth energy where the big money comes at the brothel.
The Power of Prayer in Julia Fox ‘s Down the Drain.
Julia Fox speaks a great deal about prayer in her memoir, Down the Drain: praying to get her charges dismissed. Praying for another chance at life. Praying, most notably, for a sugar daddy to get her out of the dungeon once she burns out. Her prayers are typically answered — although I feel unsure how much of her prayers to circumvent the NY criminal justice system are due to a higher power rather than her being a cis, white, typically pretty girl.
However, in any case, she spoke on Jay Shetty’s podcast about how she believes in the power of manifestation. In Down the Drain, she wrote about how she prayed for a sugar daddy every night for six months during her stint at a dungeon as a domme — and those prayers were answered. Read the excerpts below:
This sugar daddy ended up taking care of her for years and years. We could say she is ‘lucky,’ we can say she is privileged for sure, but also, it seems as though her prayers work since she seems to have hit the lottery of sugar daddies on the first try. Is Julia Fox a prayer warrior? Lol.
All Hookers Go to Heaven by Angel B.H.
A gripping work of autobiographical fiction by Angel B.H., All Hookers Go to Heaven is highly concerned with faith and spirituality (expect a review from me in the near future!).
Angel B.H. describes the main character “Magdalena” using the power of orgasm-intentional masturbation (sex magic) to place a curse on all cishet men (hilarious), and having used pussy juice to coat wealth sigils drawn on paper that Magdalena carried around on paper in her clutch at the strip club. In my clutch at the strip club, I carried around a good-luck-rock, which served the dual purpose of turning my clutch into a weapon to hit any erring clients over the head with (luckily, it never came to that).
The description of magic and witchery as being part and parcel of “college lesbian” days made me chuckle.
However, what I think is most significant for me in this book is the way in which Magdalena learns to listen to her instincts (and what happens when she doesn’t), which occasionally materialize as a spiritual figure called “the Spectre.” The Spectre tells Madgalena what to do in moments of danger or crisis as a sex worker, and is frequently described as “slipping” back under Magdalena’s skin when the danger has passed.
I found this very interesting and relatable, as many of us may have our own versions of a Spectre: a protective ancestor, or set of ancestors ; angels ; spirit guides ; our higher self.
Furthermore, I adored Angel B.H.’s constellation of “angels” in the book of seasoned sex workers who taught Madgalena important lessons and gave critical advice which had positive ramifcations for Magdalena’s career as a sex worker. I do believe in the idea of ‘angels in human form,’ and that as sex workers they can come to us in the form of colleagues (senior or otherwise).
Praise for All Hookers Go to Heaven, and you can expect more words from me on this book soon!
