Welcome to The Open Call List #129!

In this weekly newsletter, I share opportunities for photographers for exhibitions, publications, fellowships, grants, residencies, jobs, and more. My goal is to make the photography world more accessible, especially to emerging artists. While I include both free opportunities and calls for entry with submission fees, I only share opportunities that favor artists.

Opening Remarks:

This week I added new opportunities to the Directory of Publications that Accept Photography Submissions, as well as to the List of Opportunities for Landscape and Environmental Photographers. The new listings are dated, and all are currently open for submissions.

This week’s Open Call List below includes 37 calls for entry, 16 of which offer free submission. The list contains a wide range of publication opportunities, including calls for group print publications, fully-funded solo photobook publications, online publications, zines, and more. The list also includes exhibition opportunities at major galleries and museums, as well as at international photography festivals, with some exhibition calls offering financial support for exhibiting artists. (The list includes online exhibition opportunities as well.) Additionally, this week’s list includes five funded residencies specifically for photographers. It also includes a wide range of other opportunities for support, including major grants, awards, fellowships, and more.

The Jobs section contains new jobs and internships in the photo arts industry. This week’s list includes a high number of new internship opportunities, including one remote internship. It also includes jobs in at galleries, festivals, as well as in higher education.

  • Der Greif’sPhotography Unbound” (Online Exhibition) | Deadline: 8/17, Fee: FREE with optional €5 or €10 donation, Submission: Up to 5 images, artist statement, Selection Includes: Exhibition on Der Greif’s website and online feedback session with curators.

  • LensCulture’s Photobook Prize 2026 | Deadline: 8/18 (Extended), Fee: $45+, Submission: Bio, 20-30 images, project description, statement of vision for book, Selection Includes: One winner will receive full book design and publication by Nazraeli Press (~value $25,000), worldwide distribution, and a print exhibition; shortlisted projects will receive a $500 grant, as well as other benefits.

  • FIGURES Mentorship and Book Dummy Program 2026/7 | Deadline: 8/23, Fee: 10€, Submission: Up to 30 images, bio, additional information about project, Selection Includes: Selected artist(s) will receive 1.5 hours of mentorship per month for twelve months while working through the photobook dummy process, culminating in a final, complete photobook dummy.
