I've Been Doing Some Shopping 👀

I don’t know about you guys but August is always a bit of a shopping identity crisis for me.

On the one hand, I am spending the last few weeks of summer galavanting around Europe for a mix of work and pleasure, which means I am still very much shopping for white dresses, swimsuits and pieces that can take me from the beach to lunch.

On the other hand…I am who I am and my brain has already moved on to suede, denim, cashmere and all the things I want to wear come September and October (particularly while I prep a bunch of Fall content across w&w and here on TNE).

The result: more shopping than I typically do this late in the summer 💸

So today I’m sharing what’s been being bought and not returned. There are the pieces coming to Europe with me this month, a few new beauty launches that immediately impressed me and, yes, the first wave of fall purchases I’m already very excited to wear.

Housekeeping note: This post is too long for email. Please enjoy it in the Substack app or on your desktop.

I actually have no issues with being one of those “I’m so ready for Fall” people that others love to hate on around this time of year. But, given my upcoming travel and work priorities (at least for the rest of August) be summer maxx-ing while I am also willing Fall’s arrival 🙃

As always, I’ve included sizing, fit notes and my initial thoughts on everything.

I’ll be over-indexing on white dresses for my upcoming time in Greece and this one is billowy, high summer perfection. I got it in an 8 but likely could have done a 6 as it is oversized.

The perfect little kitten heeled sandal I plan to bring to Europe with me this month.

Dissh makes quintessentially summer pieces that end up getting a lot of wear so I decided for some newness from the brand and this mini is so cute on. The tie in the back and the even-better-in-person embroidery make this a beautiful addition to my LWD collection. I got size 8.

I also ordered this gorgeous set for Greece and I loooove how it looks on. I got a size 10 in the top (originally ordered an 8 and wanted it to not be so tight up top!) and an 8 in the pants.

This has all the elements I love in a summer dress- midi length, full skirt, cute details like side ties and pockets. Size M

You guys know by now how special I think La Ligne dresses are. They are almost always better IRL and this one with its pleats and A-line shape had my name all over it. The soft gray color is soooo pretty in person.

I first got the size 8 but couldn’t even zip it so I re-ordered the Size 10.

I really love a dress that can be a coverup but also carry me to a seaside lunch and the fit of this dress is great. It’s effortless and yet put together - my favorite kinda dresses to wear this time of year. I got the size M.

If you’re sensitive to scratchy fabrics I would skip it however as pre-wash it was a bit itchy because of the fabric makeup.

I thought the ochre coloring of this swimsuit was so good. I got size L.

My brown swimsuits have been my most reached for this year and I wanted another one to pack for my upcoming EuroSummer trip. I got this in the XL.

I am limited on luggage space for my upcoming trip (spanning four countries!) and I wanted a set that I could both throw over a swimsuit or just wear down to breakfast. This fit the bill perfectly. Light, billowy and casual yet put together. I got a M in both pieces.

I actually got these at the onset of summer and they kept getting cut from my suitcase for trips but I think they’ll find their place this forthcoming trip because I need really versatile pieces. Recommend sizing down!

Love, love, love this foundation stick that is not only perfectly portable for travel but the ideal weight and finish for summertime, easy no makeup makeup. I wear shade Bisque.

This smells intoxicatingly good. A mix of bergamot and black pepper; crisp white sheets, incense and amber; patchouli and vetiver- it lingers so well and just smells so, so interesting. Highly recommend.

Immediately got the new Aperitivo shade that looks like the perfect summer into fall color of my one of my all time favorite glosses. (Bikini is my most worn shade!)

To celebrate the five year anniversary of their System Tote, Cuyana introduced a limited edition collection of the style and the suede was just what I needed to see to add to my work tote collection for use in the upcoming season.

You guys this tee’s fabric!? A dream. So soft and cozy and feels like a lived-in-for-forever kinda vibe. I got a size L and I already placed an order for more colors. Yep…

You guys this tote is superior!! I brought it with me to Napa and it may become one of my go-to personal carry on items. Crafted from canvas it has chic leather trim and I love the side snaps allow for the shape and volume of the bag to adjust making it ideal for travel.

It can be carried by hand or worn over the shoulder and has great little side pockets within, too. I am obsessed. Lots of colors and sizes available FWIW!

You may have seen me share these in my most recent France haul video on Instagram but I bought them after seeing a friend wear them and rave about their comfort. They are, in fact, seriously comfortable and just really chic. I can’t wait to wear them all Fall and Winter.

This pair is next on my list but all the Miu Miu sneakers are worth exploring atm.

Confessions of a Fall Girlie

Summer may technically have another 2 months left (lol joke’s on me), but I have to confess: mentally I’m already in October.

Oh these jeans are soooooo good. The fit are 10/10 for my 5’5” frame and I just know they’re going to get so much wear. I got the size 29S.

Read my AYR Denim Review.

Later in September I’ll do a full denim edit + try on here on TNE.

Given how much I wear the AYR Deep End button down, I wanted to add this more edgy take on the button down to my collection.

It is very oversized so size down. I took my usual size of size M however but could likely have done a S.

Not Fall related but a new launch that’s worth mentioning...the new Westman foundation is WOW. Their team kindly sent me an advance sample earlier this month and you guys, it is just so good. My friend complimented me on my skin the minute I arrived to our coffee date and I gotta say - it may just be one of my favorite launches ever from them. I wear shade F1. Highly, highly recommend it (and it pairs beautifully over this SPF fyi!!)

I spent the better part of the last four years campaigning the team at M.M. to release my favorite tee in a true white (having worn the hell out of my black and ivory versions) and they finally did it!!

This tee is so good for so many reasons. The premium cotton fabric, the ability to wash it a million times and still have it look like-new and the slightly longer sleeves - to name just a few. I wear a size M.

Don’t believe me?! Take this follower’s word for it:

After my bout with tendonitis earlier this year I needed new neighborhood walk sneakers and landed on these. They are nostalgic in their style but I really liked the colorway in particular.

Earlier this summer I bought this sweatshirt in the black (and the matching sweatpants - size M) and now added gray into my ever-growing sweatshirt collection. I love the vintage vibes of it and am definitely loving Polo Ralph Lauren more of late than I have in the last decade. I got the size L in the sweatshirt.

This is the denim trend I’m most leaning into for fall this season. Longline, dark and straight through the leg. I got these in a size 29.

I am not usually a fan of pear shaped diamonds personally but I though the way this lab grown diamond was put on the curve of this ring was really striking and would make a fun addition to my ring stack. It’s really pretty in person and I have loved wearing it since it arrived.

I am deep into curating the edit for this year’s forthcoming Fall PDF and in doing so am saving a lot of items and trends I’m excited about. One is oversized chore jackets and this one from Frame looked chic so I ordered it and it’s great. It’s very oversized so I got it in a size M but likely could have done a size S.

A slouchy, oversized cashmere sweater I know will get so much wear this fall. Size M.

This sweater in black is one of my most worn pieces of Winter the last two years so when I saw the new soft gray shade, I nabbed it. Size down! I wear a S.

Like last year, I already know I’m going to wear a lot of gray denim this year so I nabbed this pair in a size 29 because they looked similar to some of my most worn jeans of last season.

I have several girlfriends who endorsed these so I finally decided to try them. I ordered the corduroy version first and they felt too niche and not versatile enough for the price tag so I exchanged them for the dark gray/black-ish twill and they are very cool on. I can’t wait to style them as a great alternative to dark denim this Fall and Winter. They fit TTS and I got the size 6.
