Good morning peoples!
Well done, you made it to the second sentence of today’s Recommender edition. There’s no reason why you can’t go on and absolutely nail this. We’re here to help, so here’s what you need to do: scroll, read, listen, but also have a paying subscription to this foolhardy little endeavour that costs £5 a month even though that bought us a pint at the time we set the cost and now barely gets us one of those weird Aussie schooners:
Here’s this week’s playlist:
And here it is for you Apple Music jazzers.
See you on Monday for a Life & Times chit-chat with the ledge that is Sonic Boom aka Pete Kember.

I’ll get to the breezy new single from Queens Of The Stone Age in just a sec, but first things first. I saw some pictures of Josh Homme this week and the man is looking very slim, maybe even skinny. It’s very disappointing. Some fellas, like yours truly, were born to be a bit chunkier. It’s why god gave us the height, to balance it all out. Get skinny and we start looking like POWs. Dieting has lost any allure now anyway because everyone just assumes you’re on weight loss drugs. I could never take weight loss drugs - and I’m not suggesting Josh has, although he might have done – because I’ve got a massive head. Get really skinny, I’d still have a massive head and it would run the risk that my now-skeletal frame would not have the structural integrity required to hold my head up. I’d have to have scaffolding put up around my neck. Everyone would call me Scaffolding Man. I wouldn’t be happy. Anyway, wanted to get that off my chest. The weight loss doesn’t seem to have affected Josh’s songwriting chops, so that’s something, although a carefree acoustic ditty with a 70s singer-songwriter shine about it is a QOTSA first.
