There’s a vision that often comes to mind, just as it makes itself known through a soft resonance in my heart, and my whole body. The vision could be an imprint from old stories, perhaps a movie I saw once upon a time. Or, the vision might be from a past lifetime. Who knows? But really, does it even matter?
In my opinion, what matters is not anything about past lifetimes, nor regurgitating the stories that got us here. What matters is what is unfolding, here and now, this time around.
Perhaps it takes place in The Himalayas. High - so high! - up in the mountain peaks, the size of which my own eyes have never actually seen!
Down below, the world is in thick green forest.
Up above, high peaks glisten with the vibrant white of snow.
In between sits a human being. Quiet. Still.
Doing absolutely nothing;
except,
being with all that is.
I have never been to Nepal, nor Tibet, but I do know what it feels like to sit high atop a mountain: Gaze cast upwards, and all around me, my whole being resonating with the highest of vibrations that cannot be put into words.
Nothing to do; except, to be with all that is.
It is an experience I am actually quite familiar with. Summers have me running up and down mountains here in my homelands in The Rockies, moving up and down as many of them as I can while I remain eager for the moments that I can pause in stillness, look out on it all, and soak it all in. Winters, too, find me strapping a board or skis to my legs so that I may make my way high up into the snowy peaks. Here, too, I seek out the pause.
Let me slow down, even if just for a moment.
Give me that moment with nothing to do; except, to be with all that is.

Now, as someone living in modern reality, you may be asking: Why would I want to “be with all that is?” For, “all that is” is quite chaotic, messy, and often painful right now! I don’t want to “be with” what is out there. I want to withdrawal, and to shift into what is a nice, cozy, light-filled space right here.
In answer, I bring us back to the high mountains: A dark green forest beneath you, and high peaks touching the skies all around you. Held tenderly, with Earth right here with you.
Here, can you go inward, and know that peace, that joy, that light that you seek?
Here, can you go outward, and know that peace, that joy, that light that you seek?
Now, as you return to self, present in the body that you are, and the society that you are in, can you move through it all holding that same vibration?
Holding that peace, that joy, that light,
Weaving it into every cell of your body,
and every moment of your being?
This, friends, is the process. And it is one that you are here to cultivate as you take each step through it all.
Sound daunting? Not to worry, for The Mountain, just as The Forests, are here to help you along each step of it all.

I didn’t come to spirituality until my early twenties. It was my late twenties that had me coming face-to-face with the fact that it might just be my own soul contract to be here as a spiritual teacher. A wild journey, rest assured, for it is not one that came from any traditional religion, but one that was awakened directly within me:
By The Mountain, herself.
I told this story in my previous post: About living in one life, getting pulled out of it, and stepping into a whole new way of seeing, and of being, in this world. It was not any interaction with a religious figure, nor Jesus himself that did it. Rather, it was The Mountain, and The Forests, herself, that helped to show me, through a depth of feeling, a better path that could be taken in life.
Since then, each day being its own wild journey as my senses open wider to more of that which is here; as my intuitions deepen into truer connection with what serves; as my discernment towards that which is most skillful becomes increasingly fine-tuned.
A journey, one which will never be accomplished in perfection, but will be walked in turn, each step an opportunity to learn, to grow, to heal, to overcome, and to experience the great joy, peace, and beauty that is here, already, to be known.
This, my friends, is A Journey Up The Mountain, and it is our life’s paths as spiritual beings, embodied as these beautiful, wild, messy, and complex biological beings that we are;
Interconnected, as one, with this most remarkable, most wondrous, Planet Earth.
I want to leave you all with a practice, today. It is one that I intend to begin with in what will be our next blog post. Make sure you are subscribed to The Mountain Mystic Substack so that you receive the next post, one that will expand upon the ideas here, and take us deeper into the practice below.
Take a moment to settle down into your body.
Breathe deeply as you allow yourself to relax in a seated position.
Feel your feet on the floor. Feel your seat in your chair.
Breathe deeply - inhaling fully, and exhaling completely.
Take your time to settle down into self.
Let all of life’s chaos fall away,
As you come to center directly into self.
When you are ready, I invite you to bring your attention to your upper body.
Your heart, your throat, your head, your crown.
Further, up into the area above your crown.
Continue breathing directly into your body,
as you bring your consciousness into those upper chakra areas.
Now, I invite you to envision a swirl of light around this upper chakra area.
You might imagine it as sparkly light, perhaps with a particular color.
If you are struggling to receive an image of your own, an invitation to imagine blue sparkling light as it swirls down from above around your head, your heart.
There is nothing else to do here, other than to allow this light to swirl, weaving around you, and through you. Perhaps, descending down into you as you breathe deeply into self.
Remembering, this is divine light. It is here to support you as you pursue the highest paths set out for you. It is here to help you; to guide you.
Allowing it to do so as you are open to the feelings, the visions, the emotions, the healings, and the awakenings that are present for you in this practice.
