Well, my friends—where to even begin? Every year, AuthorCon is simply amazing, but I think this year it might have been my best one yet. I nearly passed out about five times from laughing so hard. The camaraderie, the good spirits and good will, and the energy in the room is infectious and I know it will stay with me for the rest of the year. In some ways, it's sad I only get to hang out with my wonderful American family once a year, but we sure make the most of it!
There are too many wonderful, wonderful people to name; I would inevitably leave someone out. So instead I'll say: thanks to all who made it a special, special time.
I also made a lot of new friends this year—people who showed me such kindness and with whom I had such a laugh—and I'm really excited to check out their work. On the book buying front, I was very restrained and only came away with four books (though I may have bought a stack more as presents for other people!). My "restraint" was also partly also due to the fact my table ended up being busy. To everyone who picked up a special edition copy of Lost Carcosa (which people jokingly called "The biggest book in the room"), thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I also picked up a beautiful painting from Lucy Leitner and a bunch of other stuff, but as you all know I am not great at taking photos.
I've left so much unsaid, but if you take one thing away from this, it is that I am so grateful to be a part of this amazing community and charity (for more information about the charity side of things, visit Scares That Care — they do incredible work).
Every year I am emotionally overwhelmed by the love and kindness on display; I feel like my lovely American friends have adopted this here crazy Brit with a loving embrace, despite his flaws.
Keep being awesome.

For my UK friends who are feeling very left-out of the fun: never fear! This April (10th - 11th), there’s an AMAZING convention taking place in the UK. It’s called PASCIFY, which stands for Paranormal, Science Fiction, and Fantasy. There will be plenty of horror authors there too, however. Seriously, if you need a break from the troubles of the world, or if you’re like me and have a book addiction, this is the place to be.
I’ll be attending with a weird and wild selection of books including some special editions, convention-only editions, and hand-bound editions. There will also be a ton of other incredible authors, including the great Lee Mountford. Here is the complete list of authors and vendors:
