Chic Things, For Mom

Upon the things I consider myself good at, gift giving is at the top of my list. Whenever I give a gift, I try to personalize it as much as I can. Through out the year I make notes on what my friends or family mention to me in passing, habits, things, places friends and family enjoy. Once a holiday or birthday comes around, a take pride in knowing I’ve curated the thing that makes someone in my life feel like I really see them.

Mother’s Day in my house is a national holiday (as are birthdays). So — after a lifetime of experience of curating gifts for my mom (just me myself and I), I wanted to share some of my favorite mom-obsessed gifts, including what I’ll be gifting my mom this year!

AERIN Perfume - My love for scent, perfume and perfume bottles actually began with my mom. My mom collected perfume bottles for years on end that I loved playing with as a child. I can recall periods of my childhood through various scents my mom wore…Dolce Gabbana Light Blue, Chloe, Versace Crystal Noire. There’s nothing more that I appreciate than discovering a new scent alongside my mom- our latest endeavor has been AERIN’s scents which we both love. This year, I’m gifting her AERIN’s Rose Cocoa perfume- the bottle is gorgeous, and it smells amazing.

Guerlain Lipstick- I recently was gifted a Guerlain lipstick with my name engraved in the little interior mirror. Talk about a chic little object. If your mom loves lipstick, and simply the finer things in life, the Guerlain lipstick is the perfect gift. I know that in New York their store has custom engraving which is always the perfect added touch.

For the Mom who Deserves Pampering- Is your mom the type of mom who deserves a serious spa day but will never make the actual appointment? Nor does she have the time? If so, a favorite of mine for any mom (or anyone) is this nail care set from Celisse. I use the set almost nightly as part of my short but sweet self-care ritual and its the best. I love Celisse and all of their non-toxic products.

Crown Affair - My mom loves to regularly call me to tell me how much she loves Crown Affair, and Diana Cohen. One of the first gifts my partner ever gave me was a Crown Affair comb about 7 years ago now. It was the first time I saw such a beautiful comb and since then, I feel so lucky to use, work with, and admire Crown Affair regularly. Today, I love sharing my love for Crown Affair with my mom who has truly become the biggest fan of each and every product. Dianna Cohen - my mom is your biggest fan :) You can never go wrong with Crown Affairs hair towel, brush, or comb.

Jimmy Choo Sneakers- Last month I was very generously sent these Jimmy Choo sneakers. After the event I wore them to, I stopped by my mom’s house who literally to this day is still talking to me about how much she loves the sneakers. She loves them so much she went on a dupe-hunt to try and find a less expensive version. I decided this year, the sneakers will be her gift. Now we can match!

Charvet Slippers: For the mom that loves to be cozy, and honestly for anyone, I love giving the gift of Charvet slippers. They’re luxe, gorgeous, and last a lifetime. I absolutely love the light blue and purple as a gift for mom! They are unisex so the size small/medium should fit most!

Jimmy Choo Bag- On the topic of Jimmy Choo, they also make INCREDIBLE bags. I love this one for the mom who loves a fun fashion piece. Mine is currently on-loan with my mom.

John Hardy- This Mother’s Day, my mom and I had the absolute honor of shooting a Mother’s Day campaign for John Hardy. We had two full days of shooting in a plethora of John Hardy pieces and safe to say, we are both obsessed and the biggest John Hardy fans! I find that John Hardy’s pieces truly speak to everyone- the pieces gorgeous, quality, dainty, yet wearable, and there’s a range of pieces for everyone. Both my mom and I’s favorite standout pieces are this ring, bracelet, and this pin!

Devon Woodhill Necklace- A piece that has been in my Mother’s Day gift guide year after year- Devon Woodhill makes the most special personalized necklaces. My mom and I have matching disc pendants with each other’s handwriting- so special. I wear mine almost every day.

Starling Citrine Ring- A little story about this ring- I fell in love with the ring a few years ago. As usual, once I started wearing it, my mom fell in love with it too. One trip, I decided to leave the ring with my mom to “borrow” and she loved it so much, I never had the heart to force her to give it back to me. We love Starling, mom’s love starling, and this ring I truly find the most special gift. My mom and I have spoken extensively about how special the shade of this specific Citrine is that Starling uses. Embossed Stationary from Etsy- To me, especially for the host/ sentimental mom, this is the perfect gift. Personalized anything will always feel special, and I find that this specific embossed stationary set is not only beautiful, but also practical and well appreciated by anyone who receives it as a gift.

Tea from Bellocq & Tea Diffuser from Tea House- The perfect gift if you ask me. I learned about this tea diffuser from the wonderful Ilana Torbiner (who also happens to be one of the coolest moms I know) and have used it every day since I got it (bonus points because its beautiful). Bellocq Tea continues to be one of my favorite gifts to give and receive- the most gorgeous tea in the most gorgeous tea canisters.

Lola Blanket- People ask me all the time, “do you actually like Lola Blankets? Are they actually worth it?”. The answer is yes- in fact everyone in my house loves their blankets so much so that I just got the dog blanket version for my puppy as he is so obsessed with the one that lives on our couch. A great gift for the mom who loves to be cozy.
