We might have a star developing before our very eyes.
If 2026 turns into the season Carson Benge emerges, that’s enough for me.
Challenged by his manager to make something happen against a tough right-hander, Benge did what Benge has done in the face of every major-league test, he delivered.
A two-run shot, tucked inside the foul pole, to give his team a lead they refused to relinquish.
“I did something,” Benge told his manager on his way out to right field after the home run.
Steve Cohen paid a record amount for Juan Soto. He tried to pay a crazy number for Kyle Tucker. Soto is Soto, but it’s a guy making the league minimum whose turned right field into the future of the franchise.
Benge’s 15th home run puts him in elite company, joining Darryl Strawberry as the only Met rookies to record 15+ homers and 15+ stolen bases in their rookie seasons.
🍎 KEEP WINNING: The Amazins finished their homestand 5–1 and have won 11 of their past 15 games. They have the best record in the majors since the trade deadline (because of course they do!)

Andy Green deserves serious consideration for a new contract that keeps him in the dugout in 2027 and beyond.
They say you find love when you’re least looking for it. The same is sometimes true of a manager. We know Joe Torre’s story. Kevin Cash. Brian Snitker. Names who could have easily remained understudies until they received an unexpected or unceremonious promotion that turned them into success stories.
When David Stearns conducts interviews for a new manager, he will only be asking the questions that Green is answering every night.
