Megan Gill · Continued Conversations with Megan Gill

I was so excited to host my second-ever event at my home yoga studio. I was looking forward to seeing my yoga pals and introducing everyone to my sign ◡̈

I had so many beautiful, deep, and powerful conversations this day - a bunch of people entered our raffle and shared what their favorite thing about their body was for the social media series. However, I also had some really beautiful off-camera conversations with members of the studio. It’s always such an intimate and beautiful thing to experience a person answering this question.

I want to extend my gratitude to those of you who stopped by to share with me this day and/or stopped by to chat about my mission and my message. People’s willingness to be vulnerable with me never goes unappreciated.

LOCATION: YogaSix Redondo Beach

DATE: Saturday, May 30th, 2026

TIME: 8:30am-1:00pm

Answers I heard:

  • My biceps

  • My heart

  • My creativity

  • My grit

  • My smile

  • My eyes

  • “That I’m hairless”

  • My hair

  • My legs

  • My brain

  • To connect my total wellness and to be able to do the things that I enjoy to do, and to be able to stay healthy

  • That it’s mine!

  • My manubrium

  • My private parts

  • Its resilience

  • That I can dance with my friends

  • My skin

  • My neck

  • What it’s capable of

  • That it’s able to function

The theme that stuck out to me the most:

  • My smile

  • My eyes

First-Time Responses:

  • My manubrium

  • My grit

  • My private parts

Powerful responses that stood out:

  • That I can dance with my friends

  • That it’s able to function

Stand out words of encouragement:

  • There was A TON of supportive words shared about what I’m doing with my sign. It was truly wonderful to hear and just another reminder that this project is important and needed.

Patterns I noticed:

  • I don’t know if it’s because I know so many people at my home studio or because the community at Y6RB is so wonderful, but there was so much less resistance than I’m used to. A lot of people came over to answer my question and hear about what I was doing with my project.

I am, yet again, incredibly grateful to Sara Krish for bringing me into the space, to the owners of Y6 RB, Blaine and Jodi, for allowing me to pop-up, and to Christina and Breanne for helping me set up and keeping me company while classes were in session. Thank you all for helping me spread my message into our collective yoga space ❤️

I decided not to reflect after this experience, because a majority of the people I’d spoken with had agreed to be featured as part of the social media series!

My favorite thing about my body that day was… my smile! And my bodys ability to carry me through each hot yoga class at YogaSix.

More pop-ups to come! And more sign days on the street to come as well! I can’t wait to continue to do this work.

As always, I’ll leave you with this: What’s your favorite thing about your body?

❤️‍🔥Megan

While I’m not a licensed therapist, registered dietician, or medical health professional and cannot speak to body image topics from a clinical, trauma-informed place, I am an expert of lived experience. I’m an academic of my own body, and I’m passionate about facilitating conversations with other humans about their relationships with their bodies. I believe it’s important to continue conversations about healthy body image in creative spaces as a means to heal individuals as well as the collective whole.
