The Living Well Mission · The Living Well’s Substack

It’s that time again! Our monthly newsletter condenses a lot of information into one email, so scroll through to learn about our utility assistance program, upcoming food pantry needs, and more!

📜 A note from our Director, Sandi:

Hi Everyone,

Happy start of summer!

As we look toward the future, our guiding principle of building resilience through hope encourages us to focus on two pillars of community support - youth programs and resilience assistance programs. It’s through this lens that The Living Well is making changes to our programming starting this month.

We are focusing our time and talents on youth programs like The Well’s Imagination Station and Dream Catchers and resilience assistance programs such as our food pantries, personal hygiene pantry, Worship Well, Grab N’ Go Meals, and utility assistance. While this shift is bittersweet as we bid farewell to some of our beloved programs like Paul’s Place, Cancer Care Group, and the Bereavement Group, we want you to know that these initiatives are in great hands. Local churches will now provide support for Paul's Place, the Hope Walk will take over the Cancer Care Group, and a Bereavement Group is available at St. Mark’s Church in Penn Yan.

By spreading our resources across these two pillars - youth programs and resilience assistance programs - we can concentrate on addressing the established needs of our community. Together, we can nurture the dreams of our youth and provide the assistance that our resilient community members require.

In faith and gratitude,

Rev. Sandi Perl

Did you know that food inaccessibility is a real struggle for some folks in our community? Yep, it's true. We've seen it firsthand, especially when it comes to students who might not have access to dinners after school. It breaks our hearts to think that some of these kids rely solely on the breakfast and lunch meals provided at school.

But here's the deal: we're all about taking action and making a positive change. That's why each of our incredible youth programs includes FREE food. We believe that no one should go hungry, and we're doing our best to make sure that every young person gets healthy, delicious food.

By grabbing your tickets to Feast & Flourish, not only will you be treating yourself to a fun evening filled with amazing food, but you'll also be directly supporting our mission of tackling food inaccessibility in our community.

Together, we can make a difference. The more tickets we sell, the more young people we can nourish with wholesome meals.

Feast & Flourish kicks off at 6pm with appetizers, followed by a dinner of chicken or tofu tikka masala, and an auction to cap off the night.

Our utility assistance program grows every year. This year we provided $5,209 during the first three months of 2024. During the same time period last year, we provided $2,083 in utility assistance.

As we start collecting food for the summer, please remember most kids will be at home and they enjoy foods like granola bars, gold fish, pretzels, fruit cups, and other snack items!
