Winding down the school year is always bittersweet. After finishing my Master’s and a 14-month-long contract negotiation, I am more than ready for summer. But I think there’s a secret part of every educator that misses the organized chaos, the kids, and the colleagues over the summer.
I spent the majority of this past week swapping my nonfiction and graphic novel sections amidst another school fair hosted in the library. Our math department puts on a probability fair every year in which students design games of chance, offering candy or other small prizes to lucky winners. Playing Michael Jackson-themed coin tosses and spinning Spongebob roulette wheels was a welcome break between unshelving and reshelving cartfuls of books.
Do I have pictures of this dynamically shelved, reorganized portion of my collection, you ask? Of course not. Past Jennie forgot about future Jennie who would be writing this post. Next week, there will be pictures!
