Who is Natalie Harp and Why is MAGA Freaking Out About Trump’s New Blonde?

Allison Gill and I are always surprised by what actually angers MAGA. They’re perfectly fine with Trump being a rapist, convicted criminal who mocks and ridicules their former leaders and representatives. They’re fine with him breaking his promise to lower grocery costs or not engaging America in forever wars. They don’t mind when he says he prefers uneducated voters.

All of this halal for most in the MAGA cult.

But don’t you dare call them “weird,” like Tim Walz! That’s a step too far!

This week, we learned that Natalie Harp, the young, mysterious blond who is always by Trump’s side, is a raw, exposed nerve. Apparently, we’re not even allowed to mention her, even briefly, as Jon Ossoff did at a rally earlier this week. MAGA, and its right-wing media ecosystem do not want you to talk about this woman who fluffs Trump’s ego and types out his rambling, dangerous Truth Social posts. We’re not supposed to ask why she was chosen over Karoline Leavitt when Trump abandoned nearly everyone on an allegedly compromised plane and sharted away to safety in a catering cart.

If MAGA exposes a weakness, you pounce and attack, especially as they circle the wagons with the same talking points and accuse Ossoff of being sexist for simply mentioning her.

What you don’t do is go on national TV and attack your own base and repeat right-wing lies. That’s what Hakeem Jeffries did over the weekend when he chose not to pivot and go after MAGA extremism but instead used the most extreme examples to smear the entire DSA. You don’t handicap Democrats like Abdul El-Sayed before an election and tell voters he might be unelectable, like CAP president Neera Tanden has been doing for the past month.

For voters, we have every right to deserve more and better from elected officials. We have to be loud and keep pushing them. It works. For example, look at the turn on AI Data Centers, which are overwhelmingly unpopular. Finally, some Democrats are getting the message. Just today, Gov. Shapiro signed an order restricting AI Data Centers.

We can have nice things, but we need fighters willing and able to fight for them.
