Friends, I am guest hosting for Joy-Ann Reid this week while she’s on her work-ation. We have a fabulous lineup of amazing guests for all three shows.
We kicked off today with an episode chronicling America’s rapid descent into authoritarianism. The techno-fascists and the Trump Administration are building a massive surveillance state to maintain power, steal data, and control an increasingly exhausted and poor population.
Earlier today, the DOJ announced it’s deploying 1,000 “election monitors.” ICE has also been unleashed to terrorize and kill Americans, and the National Guard continues wasting its time and resources patrolling Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, Trump is openly sharing his plans to stay in power, even giving a 30-minute address last month accusing China of foreign interference in U.S. elections, which he will use as a pretext to declare a national emergency.
But let’s focus on Hasan Piker, tweets, and Abdul El-Sayed being an unelectable Muslims!
To break it all down, I invited Mary Trump and Danielle Moodie to discuss how Democrats must evolve into a robust opposition party instead of being middling, centrist collaborators.
Later in the hour, Jenn Budd, a former Border Patrol officer, and immigration attorney Mo Goldman joined us to discuss why ICE must be abolished.
Historian Heather Cox Richardson joined in the second hour to warn about Trump’s authoritarian agenda and suggest what Americans can do to resist MAGA. Finally, the ACLU’s Gideon Epstein joins in the final 15 minutes to talk about Flock Cameras and how big tech is working with the government to surveil and track Americans.
