Ayana Madrone 🌻 · The Kitchen Witch

Let me tell you a secret that isn’t really a secret at all.

You have been doing magic in your kitchen your whole life. Every time you stirred a pot and thought of the person you were feeding. Every time you added a little more of something because it just felt right. Every soup you made when someone you loved was sick, every loaf you baked to fill a house with the smell of home, every cup of tea you pressed into the hands of someone who was falling apart. That was never just cooking. That was care made edible. That was intention, moving through your hands and into the food and out into the world.

That is kitchen witchery. And this is a place to practice it on purpose.

Welcome to The Kitchen Witch. Subscribe to gather with us, and let’s make some magic at the stove together.

I’m Ayana. I’m a witch, a soil scientist, a mother, and someone who has always felt most like myself standing at the stove with my hands busy and something simmering. The kitchen has been my temple for as long as I can remember. It’s where I ground myself when the world gets loud, where I mark the turning of the seasons, where I feed the people I love and, in doing so, tell them the truth I don’t always have words for.

The Kitchen Witch is my little corner of the internet devoted entirely to that practice. It’s for those who already love to cook and suspect there’s something sacred happening in the pot. It’s for those who don’t know their way around a kitchen yet but feel the pull to learn. And it’s for everyone somewhere in between, the ones who can throw together a good meal but want to bring more intention and meaning to it. Whatever your skill level, if the kitchen calls to you as a place where something magical could happen, you belong here.

You don’t need to be an experienced witch, and you don’t need to be an experienced cook. You don’t need a cabinet full of rare herbs or a single special tool. If you have a stove, a spoon, and the willingness to pay attention, you already have everything you need. We start exactly where you are.

This is a space where good food and old magic sit at the same table. Here’s what I’ll be bringing you.

Ingredient wisdom. The folklore, history, and magic living inside the ordinary things in your pantry. The protective power of salt. The drawing magic of honey. What our ancestors knew about garlic, cinnamon, rosemary, and bay long before anyone called it superstition. You’ll never look at your spice cabinet the same way again.

Kitchen craft and technique. The actual practices of the kitchen witch. How to stir intention into anything you cook. How to build a simmer pot that fills your home with a spell you can smell. How to charge your food with the moon, cleanse your space, and turn the most ordinary meal into a small, deliberate act of magic.

Seasonal recipes and the wheel of the year. Cooking that moves with the turning seasons, honoring what’s ripe and what the earth is offering right now. And once a month, I’ll bring you a seasonal recipe video: a dish for that exact moment in the year, made with my own hands, with all the magic woven in.

And the deeper roots. The hearth goddesses and the old kitchen gods. Ancestral food magic. The garden that feeds the pantry. The reasons this practice goes back as far as human beings have gathered around a fire to eat.

And the cookbook, as it comes to life. I’m writing a cookbook, and I want you here for all of it. The recipes I’m testing and the ones that flop, the stories and spells woven between the dishes, the messy, magical process of making a book with my own two hands. You’ll get to taste it as it’s created, weigh in, and know that when it finally arrives, you were part of how it came to be.

If your mouth is watering and your witch heart is stirring, you’re in the right place. Subscribe and never miss a recipe, a spell, or a story.

Most of what I share here will have a generous free portion, because I believe this wisdom should be available to everyone. The stories, the history, the folklore, the why of it all, that’s for everybody.

For paid members, I open the door the rest of the way. You’ll get the full recipes with every measurement and step, the complete rituals and spells, the monthly recipe videos, and a private space to gather with other kitchen witches doing this work alongside you. Your support is also what keeps this space alive and keeps the free portion free for everyone who needs it. It means the world to me, and it holds the door open for the next person who wanders in hungry for exactly this.

The oldest magic in the world happens in the kitchen. It always has. The hearth was the first altar, the shared meal the first ritual, the woman stirring the pot the first witch anyone ever feared or loved.

You come from a long line of people who fed each other through everything. Who turned flour and water and fire into survival, and turned survival into love. That knowing is still in your hands. I’m just here to help you remember it.

Pull up a chair. Something’s simmering, and there’s a seat for you at the table.

Subscribe to The Kitchen Witch and come cook with me. Free members get the stories, the folklore, and the magic. Paid members get the full recipes, the rituals, the monthly videos, and a seat in our private circle, and your support keeps this hearth burning for everyone.
