Good morning, lovely people! I appreciate your patience with me as I continue to try to figure out the shape of this project.

One note: If you're in the market for a consistent daily email with actions you can take to leave the world a bit better than you found it, I highly recommend "Chop Wood, Carry Water". It's very political, but she does an amazing job keeping readers encouraged and supported and providing a range of actions every day that truly do make an impact!

Our Actions for the week:

We're choosing to help make our communities more accessible! Download the app: Roll Mobility, which helps wheelchair users know which spaces in their area are wheelchair accessible. Try to add 2-4 locations to the map!

We're choosing to look for and celebrate our positive emotions: Whenever you're feeling something good this week, especially things like gratitude, pride, or affection, name it!

  • "I'm so glad I got to see you today, I'm having a really great time."

  • "I know you're just telling me about your day at work, but have I mentioned I'm really proud of you?"

  • "I love you!"

By looking for these emotions, we can also start to notice which spaces and people bring out these feelings the most. We'll also remember our day as being much more positive since we spent time looking for and speaking about the positive parts!

  • By "slow down", I specifically mean to make something less full, to add in some time for stillness or quiet non-screen activities, or maybe to dial back on commitments or things that up your stress levels

  • Maybe it's listening to some quieter music on your morning commute

  • Maybe it's eliminating the morning scroll that usually pairs with your cup of coffee

  • Maybe it's choosing to eat dinner over a board game or conversation instead of in front of the TV

You don't have to commit to changing that behavior for a lifetime—try just a week!

Remember, there is always joy if we choose to look for it! No one will choose joy for us, but we all retain the power to choose it for ourselves.
