Hey folks! There are some lovely actions to take this week, and I’m so excited to be sharing them with you.
First off, there are some very important special elections in Virginia this November! Starting on September 9th, they are in need of volunteers to staff the hotline to answer questions and assist voters. Unlike other phone banking roles, in this role you’ll be speaking with people who are eager to vote, and you get to help them do that! It’ll be rewarding, and will be a tangible way to contribute to democracy and bolster voting rights.
How: Before volunteering you must attend a 1-hour virtual training on Saturday, September 6, 13, 20, or 27 at 12 Noon ET.

If you haven’t already, make a plan to get yourself a library card this week. Then, do some digging into the services your library offers. Pick one that you didn’t know about before (free streaming services, career resources, camping equipment, cooking tools, etc.) and use it! Usage data is critical for continued funding and support for libraries.
I know, your first answer might be “I am myself, of course I know myself!” but I am of the mind that the stronger our relationship with ourselves, the better we can understand our needs, identify our boundaries, ask for the help we need, and motivate ourselves to do things we’re dreaming of.
Many of us have at some point heard of the viral “36 questions to fall in love” discussion prompts, and I’d like to encourage you to pick 5-10 questions this week and really give yourself time to answer them alone. You can also do this with a friend or partner if you’d like, but the most important part of this exercise is understanding ourselves a little better.
