Belinda Alexandra, Kelly Morton · The Intentionalist

Happy June Intentionalists,

It’s been two years since Kelly and I started writing The Intentionalist, and we’ve had so much fun sharing with you inspiring, uplifting, motivating and humorous content. We know many of you have said how helpful you have found it.

But it’s time for us to bid you adieu.

We have applied ourselves to our teachings so well that both of us have opportunities and exciting projects coming at us from every direction, and we’ve had to rationalise where we spend our time. Through the newsletter, we’ve produced a lot of content, enough to constitute a book, all designed to be something that can be revisited and relearned several times over, which we sincerely hope you will do.

So, in this, our last newsletter, we want to share with you what we think is the most important, game-changing practice of all: The art of feeling good.

Feeling good is the fastest way to energise and inspire ourselves, and yet so few of us make a habit of it. A lot of us leave feeling good to chance or wait for something outside of ourselves to lift our spirits and motivate us.

But leaving feeling good to chance is as dodgy as hoping a poker machine is going to make you a millionaire. Yes, once in a while, you’ll hit the jackpot, which only serves to make you addicted to anticipating the next hit, but it won’t make you a powerful advocate of your own destiny, and in the end, you’ll always lose to the house.

How good you feel regularly will affect every aspect of your life:

  • Health – Feeling constantly stressed produces chemical effects that have long-term negative health outcomes. Feeling good has the opposite effect – a flood of hormones that boost vitality and the immune system.

  • Wealth and success – Feeling good allows you to see opportunities and face challenges with a more open, optimistic mindset.

  • Relationships – People who feel good are attractive. Because they feel more relaxed, they don’t get offended easily and can speak up for themselves without becoming nasty or defensive. Besides that, they are fun to be around and tend to attract other positive people and repel those who are determined to be negative.

Think of feeling good like any other practice – a habit you must consciously practice until it becomes an automatic way of living.

Start with a simple morning routine that will set you up for the day.

  • Affirmations: An affirmation is a statement you repeat over and over again until it becomes an unconscious thought. Affirmations can be negative: ‘Oh God, another day!’ or positive: ‘I am so grateful for life.’ It’s the constant practice of positive affirmations that will help you produce a feel-good mindset over time.

  • Gratitude: The sad truth is that most of us are so focused on our problems and what we lack that we fail to acknowledge the good things we already have, and as a result, feel bad a lot of the time.

Write out three things you are grateful for each morning, and allow the feeling of being thankful for them to envelop you.

This act alone produces a kind of magic. The more grateful you are for all the good in your life, the more good things start to flow to you.

If you find this hard to believe, then simply try this practice as an experiment for seven days and see what happens. You have nothing to lose but a few minutes of your time each morning.

Sadly, most people find their daily lives boring and mundane, and only feel good when they are on holiday. Set an intention to feel good every day and plan an activity that will produce that feeling. It can be as simple as dancing or singing along to your favourite song before you leave for work in the morning, going for a daily walk in nature, dressing up even if you are working from home, or making time for an absorbing hobby rather than doomscrolling on your phone.

The trick is to set your intention and then make yourself accountable to follow through. Otherwise, it’s too easy to set the intention and then get swept up in the busyness of the day and meeting other people’s agendas.

To help our subscribers follow through on these practices, we created the Feel Good Now Journal, which is available on Amazon for just $29.95. It will set you up for this daily feel-good practice for three months. (As well as other positive practices like goal setting, creating positive habits and strategies, etc.).

It’s the greatest tool we can leave you with, and we’re so proud of it. Get yourself a copy, use it for just ten minutes in the morning and evening, and you’ll develop a mindset that will set you up for a happy and satisfying life that feels amazing!

That’s our wish for you!
