Happy Friday, Intentionalists!
With Valentine’s Day coming up, February is the month for love. But while romantic love can be wonderful and exciting, it isn’t the only kind of love we should be cultivating.
We are passionate about the concept of ‘Romanticising your life’ because it means falling in love with your very existence. It refers to a practice of consciously bringing in beauty and sensual, mindful activities into your daily routine. The aim is to create a greater sense of peace, joy, mindfulness and awe.
If you are feeling stressed, worn down by a daily grind, or simply stuck on autopilot, romanticising your life can be the perfect way to get yourself out of a rut.
The best thing about it is that it doesn’t need to involve any costly gadgets or expensive outlays. You can start with the objects you already have around you.
See the suggestions below about how you might romanticise your life.
Pick two or three of them to add to your daily or weekly routines over the next month. We’re positive you will have fallen deeply in love with your life by the time March comes around.
♥︎ Buy - or borrow from the library - a book of poetry with themes of nature, love (or something you love). When you wake up in the morning, read a poem instead of scrolling through your social media feed
♥︎ Nothing is more romantic than flowers. Find ways to bring them into your life. It could be by having a vase of flowers on your desk or dining room table – but it could also be a painting of flowers hanging opposite your bed, or floral-patterned tea towels and sheets, plates and dishes, or a floral notebook to write your thoughts in
♥︎ Classical music. If you don’t already love it, you might just be listening to the wrong kind. Start to explore piano music from composers like Mozart, Chopin and Debussy. Listen to it while reading or cooking and notice how it lifts your mood and stirs your creativity
♥︎ Make time to soak in a relaxing bubble bath at the end of the day
♥︎ Spray your pillows with a light mist of lavender or rose water before you go to sleep
♥︎ Drink your morning tea or coffee in a cup that delights you. And rather than scroll through your phone or listen to a podcast while drinking it, enjoy a moment of stillness by standing in a sunny spot in your kitchen, or staring out the window at your garden, or sitting at a nicely set table
♥︎ Grow a window box or planter of herbs and use them in your cooking
♥︎ Handwrite some beautiful cards for your three closest friends – or your spouse or parents. Tell them what you most appreciate about them
♥︎ Make weekend excursions that delight your senses – either alone or with friends. Linger in art galleries, wander around farmers’ markets or even take a train ride through beautiful scenery.
♥︎ Create a gorgeous picnic – with a colourful rug, delightful finger food and pink champagne or strawberry flavoured mineral water. Don’t cancel the picnic if it rains. Have it in your living room instead.
We hope you will try out these suggestions – or let them inspire you to come up with some of your own! If you have some of your own, let us know in the comments so we can do them too!
We wish you a February full of joy and romance!

🤍 WHAT BELINDA IS ENJOYING:
Summer mornings and birdsong. What a magical way to greet the day! She is also enjoying some meditation time in the company of her three black cats, Valentino, Versace and Gucci, before she gets up and into the day.
🖤 WHAT KELLY IS ENJOYING:
This bish was in a mosh pit again for the first time in YEARS! I forgot how much fun it can be, and how much more it hurts now that I’m older. But friends. Yungblud.
He put on ONE OF THE BEST shows I have ever been to. Not only does he make incredible music that makes me feel alive again (I’m a rock ‘n’ roll moll from waaaay back), but he also restores my faith in people. He loves what he does. He’s kind. He’s about love and looking out for each other.

Our Victorian friends will probably already know this one, but for a very brief moment, Melbourne was called Batmania. Can you imagine? Sounds pretty cool, hey? BUT it was named after one of its founders, John Batman. And the word abhorrent is even far too kind for him. So best it wasn’t.
Yep. Sing it with me, or rave to it with the video above: Bunnings Warehouse! Arthur and Robert Bunning first founded it as a sawmill in Perth in 1886. Australia wasn’t yet a federation until 16 years later in 1901.
The ABC’s (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) PO Box number was specifically chosen because it was the great Don Bradman’s batting average. Howzzat!
Before 1902, it was seen as indecent to do such a thing. Known as the Daylight Bathing Law, swimming was banned between 6 am and 8 pm. Around the 1900s, men would’ve been wearing neck-to-knee bathing costumes, and women would’ve been in bathing gowns. My word!
*The music chosen to go over this is … ah … interesting. Haha
120 years ago, in 1906, The Story of the Kelly Gang ran for just over an hour, and as you can imagine with was a huge hit! Wild to think that Ned Kelly’s last stand was in 1880, so it was in living memory for those who made this and saw it at the time.
Be an intentionalist.
