Social media has become the world’s largest dressing room, beauty counter, home showroom, and recommendation engine. It can get overwhelming. Every day someone tells us “this serum changed my life, this tote is the only bag you’ll ever need, this kitchen gadget is revolutionary”.

Most of it isn’t worth it in the end, but every once in a while, you might strike gold. Caroline and I spend our days immersed in beautiful things. It’s part of our job as interior designers. Between Instagram, TikTok, newsletters, Substack, and conversations with friends, we’re exposed to hundreds of recommendations every week. We’re skeptical and Lord knows we are picky— our job is to have discernment after all.

We almost never buy something simply because it’s trending, but occasionally a recommendation breaks through. The product actually delivers and it find a permanent place in our lives. We buy it again and again or the idea changes how we think.

These are the Top 5 Things each of us has been influenced to try recently that we would enthusiastically recommend to a friend over dinner. Some are expensive while others are surprisingly affordable. Each one is absolutely worth it.
