Paloma and Caroline at Belvoir Castle in England
By now, many of you have known Caroline and I for years, whether through our design work, Instagram, our podcast The Install, or possibly through our respective books. We launched The Install back in March after Caroline had the brilliant idea of doing a joint podcast together last fall. We both listen to podcasts, but realized that while there are a lot of interior design-based ones, the space was missing something a bit more casual and conversational in which two co-hosts who happen to be good friends and interior designers discuss the art of living beautifully. Substack came about more recently as an extension of the podcast— a place where we could delve into various topics in more detail.
Since many of you are likely somewhat new and may not go all the way back to our O.G. days, I thought it might be fun to do sort of a quick-fire Q&A post.
Iced Coffee from Paloma’s Neighborhood Favorite, Tiny’s Milk and Cookies
Paloma: Iced Coffee with Low-Fat Milk with breakfast and then an Unsweetened Iced Black or Green Tea with lunch most days
Caroline: Double Espresso and a Shaken Iced Green Tea. I chase the espresso with the green tea.
Paloma: I have practiced pilates on and off for over twenty years, but recently pivoted to private strength training with a personal trainer and love it. I work out at a cute place near my home called The Train Station. It’s all women and the trainers are fabulous. I’m currently out of commission until early September once I am six weeks past my surgery date. More on that later—maybe? In the meantime, I am trying to walk as much as I can.
Caroline: I have been a devotee of Tracy Anderson for several years. I know she is controversial, but as someone who grew up dancing, moving my body this way feels both natural and effective. I’ve done the classes in person, but mostly do the streaming option at home.
Wearing both my Thin, Gold Hoop Earrings and Special Charm Necklace on Vacation with my Family
Paloma: That’s a tie between my thin, gold Oradina hoop earrings and a very special necklace I wear most days which is comprised of a thin, gold chain with a mix of special charms that remind me of those I love most.
Caroline: My corded AirPods.
Paloma: Tata Harper Rejuvenating Serum— This has been my go-to daytime serum for at least ten years now. I love that it is made with clean, natural ingredients. It has a great, lightweight texture, lovely subtle botanical scent, and it keeps my skin looking fabulous.
P.S. Tata Harper has 25% off sitewide until tomorrow! I also love the Regenerating Cleanser, Resurfacing Mask, Creme Supreme, and Lip Creme in Bare.
Caroline: The O.G.— Aquaphor always gets the job done.
Paloma: “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars
Caroline: “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing” by Leo Sayer
The Large ZdG Personalized Bag
Paloma: This summer, I’ve been carrying a canvas Boatkin as my computer bag and I love it. It’s big enough to fit my laptop, notebook, water bottle, tape measure and anything else I need for work, yet lightweight and stylish. I also have my eye on Alex Mill’s super chic, utilitarian totes and recently saw a friend carrying a Call It By Your Name monogrammed bandana bag which is probably more colorful than I’d carry in the day-to-day, but I thought it was super stylish and fun.
Caroline: You can’t go wrong with a stylish woven tote. I love the Dragon Diffusion style that has become a classic as well as the Zoe de Givenchy personalized tote originally made famous by her uncle-in-law Hubert de Givenchy when he had them made for Le Clos de Fiorentina.

Before we go…
What is something you’d like to hear us discuss on the podcast or delve into here on The Install Edit?
Maybe it’s a skincare question; a design quandary for your own home; a query about how to run your design business; or how to know when it’s time for a life pivot. It truly could be anything. We love hearing from you and answering your questions!
