Hi, friends—

First off, I want to say welcome to several new readers this week! If you’re new here, each Friday afternoon I send out seasonal recipes, news on upcoming classes and events and some watercolor inspiration. On the first Friday of the month, I send out a new recipe that I’ve created just for this newsletter, for paid subscribers. This is totally optional, and as I say at the bottom, if you can’t afford a paid subscription, please let me know and I’ll gift you one, no questions asked!

The garden this week…I love how all the squash blossoms open in the morning! The calendula I planted from seed just started to bloom this week.

Our little sidewalk garden has brought me so much joy this summer. While we have had a sprinkling of green beans, peppers and tomatoes, we have had a bumper crop of yellow zucchini!

I’ve been baking zucchini bread, adding it to stir fries and pasta and enjoying it on it’s own, sautéed with garlic and butter.

This week I made a loaf of my favorite zucchini bread — always a winner! (and it’s vegan!) I skipped the almonds and glaze this time.

But I’d been wanting to make a spiral quiche, and this week I did. It’s so pretty and so easy, and only has about 5 ingredients. It’s great as-is, but also highly adaptable. My goal with the recipes I share is that they’ll be a starting point for you to make your own creative additions and adaptations.

Happy cooking!
