CAPSULE WARDROBE: EARLY SPRING

This is the next instalment in our blog series where we choose seven fantastic items for spring. All the patterns can be worn together and are interchangeable. I’ve created a video where I talk through them all and how they can be worn together. Although it’s currently snowing outside apparently we are now in Spring! I’ve called it early spring so there are still a few cosy items that will keep you warm!

Let’s meet the patterns:

These are the seven sewing patterns that we have chosen.

• V-neck Shift Dress sewing pattern from The Maker’s Atelier: This simple shape is a really useful item for your wardrobe, the big box pleat detail at the front and back add volume to the skirt. you can also shorten this and make it into a top.
• Nout Trousers sewing pattern from I AM Patterns: This take on a classic sailor trouser has a twist, the leg is cut slightly tapered. This is not only super flattering but it really makes the whole design feel more modern and the button detail is fantastic.
• Harlene Dungarees sewing pattern from Merchant & Mills: dungarees are back for spring, a versatile item for your wardrobe and one that you’ll reach for season after season. We love the cut on the trouser shape of these.
• Rhonda Top sewing pattern from Fibre Mood: This beautiful top with bibbed front, is a good base item. It’s simple but intersting so it can be worn with lots of the other patterns featured.
• Unisex Wildwood Jacket and Vest sewing pattern from Helen’s Closet:  There are so many variations for this Jacket that you can really make a few pieces from one pattern that will all look totally different. We loved them all!
• Nela Zip-neck Sweater sewing pattern from Bara Studio: This cropped zip-neck jumper is the perfect layering piece. Make it in something lightweight and you can wear it under something or in something cosy and it becomes a warm jumper/jacket.
• Harlow Shirt sewing pattern from Tessuti Fabrics: this is such a useful item, not only can this be worn as a shirt but also a jacket making it really versatile. The seam detail on the front makes it really unusual, boxy yet fitted, and very useful.

So we’ve picked the pattern now it’s time to think about how to wear them together. There were so many variations for these patterns but here are a few of my favourite. Enjoy!
