It’s Thanksgiving day in the USA, and I am writing to you from a tiny town on the coast of California. This fall season has been busy and we decided to drive down for a quick break.
But I am looking forward to getting back because we are zooming into holiday season also known as Mariah Carey's time of the year. I can put up my tree and find an excuse to watch Home Alone on repeat. But it is getting darker earlier and it’s getting harder and harder to step out for a workout. Enter the new workout trend- cozy cardio!
Cozy Cardio is like a warm, comforting hug for your workout routine. In a world that sometimes glorifies grueling, high-intensity workouts, this trend reminds us that exercise can be gentle and enjoyable. It's all about crafting a cozy exercise environment that makes fitness a soothing ritual. Picture lighting a scented candle, queuing up your favorite mellow tunes, or savoring a protein shake while you embark on a leisurely cardio session.
Like almost all trends nowadays—cozy cardio started on TikTok, courtesy of a delightful morning routine shared by Hope Zuckerbrow. She has different variations of the routine but it usually goes like this- wake up early, drink coffee, switch on mood lighting (and sometimes, even candles), pull on comfy socks, switch on her favorite tv show, and then go on a 40-minute stroll on her walking pad. (watch here on tiktok) Following her lead, people across social media have started sharing their own Cozy Cardio experiences, proving that exercise can be a delightful part of your day.
I mean, waking up, slipping into comfy clothes, with calm lighting and watching You’ve Got Mail? Sign me up.
Cozy Cardio represents an interesting shift away from the "no pain, no gain" mindset, emphasizing your overall well-being above all else, it is a slow start to the day, allowing you to center yourself and get some exercise at the same time. It's also the ideal starting point if you've ever felt hesitant about starting an exercise routine. By creating a comfortable space, Cozy Cardio helps you build the confidence needed to maintain a sustainable fitness routine.
Experts often recommend some cardio on a daily basis- Regular cardio can offset health risks, help with weight loss, strengthen your heart muscles, and even boost your immune system. On the mental health front, cardio can reduce stress, enhance your energy levels, and elevate your mood.
One of the best parts of the Cozy Cardio trend is its adaptability. It caters to your preferences and lifestyle. Whether you prefer a calm workout atmosphere or want the freedom to set your own pace, you can create a routine that fits your definition of cozy. And it can be customized to fit your workout preference- cozy yoga or cozy weights, anyone?
Adding Cozy Cardio into your life is refreshingly straightforward. Start by designating a workout space at home and selecting the type of exercise that appeals to you. You might consider investing in some equipment, like a yoga mat, a walking pad, or resistance bands, but there are plenty of cost-effective options too. Then, put on your favorite music (or TV show), dance like nobody's watching, or follow a gentle full-body workout routine on YouTube.
Remember, the golden rule is to keep it simple and enjoyable. Cozy Cardio is about making exercise accessible, so there are no strict rules to follow. Find the time that aligns with your rhythm, whether it's before or after work, and tailor your workout schedule accordingly. Rome wasn't built in a day, so take it one step at a time. If you're new to exercise, start with just 30 minutes a week and gradually progress from there. Remember, exercise should be a joy, not a chore.
Cozy Cardio is your ticket to a more relaxed and enjoyable fitness journey. As we step into the winter season, I hope this cozy approach helps you prioritize your well-being. Stay snug, stay warm, and, above all, stay cozy!
See you all in two weeks!
