Family Discussion Prompts
1. Do you suffer from nomophobia (fear of being apart from your phone) because of FoMO (fear of missing out) on the latest meme or a text message?
2. Can you get through one period of “deep focus” work each day without interruption? Can you get through more than one?
3. Do you allow yourself to be bored when you are out?
4. Do you power off and give yourself a complete screen break at least twice a day?
5. If we interviewed the people who you love, would they tell us that they are satisfied with the attention you give them when you spend time together?
6. Are you able to manage your mood without picking up a device?
7. Are your social skills up to scratch?
8. Do you experience any muscle strain (upper back, neck, shoulders, eyes) from your phone, tablet or computer use?
9. After experiencing something negative, is reassurance and support via social media your main source of comfort?
10. Do you find yourself searching for the ‘right’ answer online and wanting to defer decision making to someone else when you feel anxious?
11. How often do you avoid advice that feels difficult or confronting?
12. How often do you continue searching online until you find “the right” answer that matches what you want to hear?
