Austin Hisey

A Pickaway Ross student, Austin Hisey works in a factory outside of Circleville. He has attended RCCA for his whole life. He’s very good at playing the saxophone. He likes coffee, like a lot. Because he enjoys being bare foot, he is very in tune with nature. He used to be in a band. Since he’s very wise, he can help with a lot of things to do about the Gospel. Austin is a very good person to learn from. He can teach you right from wrong. He is now working and is a very entertaining person.

We asked the seniors 10 questions. And gave them the instructions to respond to 5 of them. Here is what Austin said.

It’s hard for me to pick out a single teacher that impacted me the most, everyone on the staff has had a profound impact on my life, but if I had to pick one I’d have to say Dr. Cooper. He was one of those teachers that knew how to make learning fun while still being able to teach the students everything they needed to be able to succeed.

After high school I plan to continue my full time job and eventually I hope to make a living off of my blacksmithing hobby.

I like coffee so much because it reminds me of my childhood home and mornings spent with my mom watching the sunrise. I’ve been drinking coffee since I was old enough to hold the mug.

I’ve always preferred being barefoot because it hurts my feet less. Most shoes are fairly narrow and I’ve got wide feet. Also the feeling of walking barefoot through grass is a calming feeling.

If I had to give advice to younger students it would be to learn to lean on the people who are there to help you. We are incredibly blessed to have a school system filled with teachers and staff who genuinely care for the students and want to help them succeed in life. It took me a long time to learn how to accept help. The faster you do that the easier life will be.
