Does anyone else feel like they’re trying to hold onto summer, but it’s just slipping through their fingertips? Now that August is upon us, the urge to get back-to-school ready is surfacing, but I keep reminding myself that summer isn’t over just yet! I just need to keep hanging on!
Thankfully, we were able to squeeze in a lot of summer fun in July. We kicked things off with a family boat outing on Lake Michigan.
It was a beautiful, hot day, and then suddenly the storm clouds rolled in, and we were all huddled under the canopy trying not to get pounded by rain. It made for an eventful day, and we still had a blast!
Then, we had 4th of July, our neighborhood block party, and a family trip to Wisconsin for our annual farm trip. Our summertime is filled with annual traditions like these and it’s nice to have something fun to look forward to every few weeks.
The farm is always a highlight of the summer. My amazing sister-in-law, Sarah, owns a farm in Wisconsin and we spend a long weekend fishing, swimming, riding golf carts, and relaxing together. There are always tons of laughs and the 16 of us have a blast together.
And I can’t write this post without mentioning the biggest thing that happened in July…my book is available for pre-order! I shared the news earlier this week, and it’s been a whirlwind as I’m attempting to shout the news from the rooftops. I already dove into why book preorders matter so much (isn’t publishing wild??) and I’m so grateful for all of you who have already ordered your copy. Getting your excited DMs and emails feels so good. Thank you.
I know it’s July, but I’m already thinking about my holiday gift guide. I got this Stickerbox for the kids to test out and so far it’s a hit!
Add a light switch anywhere. This is genius.
She miscarried weeks after Roe fell. A delay in care changed her life.
To the people who raised us to be decent humans. I feel like this will resonate with so many other millennials…
A good read for any other moms out there who find themselves questioning their parenting. This hit home for me.
Brands send me a lot of things to try out, but I try to keep my skin/hair/makeup pretty minimal. Because of that, I had a huge bounty of items to gift my girlfriends. We made a night of it, and everyone took home a huge bag of goodies! The most coveted items were this sleeping pillow, this polka dot swimsuit, and this skincare set.
We recently went on a double date with friends and I wore this jean dress. The right amount of cute and sexy.
These jelly sandals have taken the title of “most worn” this summer.
I don’t shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale like I used to (remember all those dressing room try-ons?!), but I do stock up on my essentials like this underwear, these socks, and this cleansing balm. And if you had to twist my arm to add a few more things to my wardrobe, I would choose these cute tennis shoes and these jeans.
I devoured the book Calamity Club this month and highly recommend it. It’s long, but worth the read.
We are a Bluey-obsessed house, and it was wild to see what the voice actors look like in real life!
I just finished the TV show, Five Star Weekend, and I loved it. I really enjoyed the book when I read it a few years ago, and I think they nailed it with this cast. Jennifer Garner has always been a favorite of mine.
Sometimes at night, I like to indulge in a single square of this chocolate. It has a mix of CBD and CBN and helps you drift off to sleep. Sometimes I think products like that taste like dirt, but this is actually amazing chocolate and is a nice treat at the end of the day.
I want to go on a Chicago coffee crawl…
This breakfast looks incredible and I think even I could make it!
This month’s Community Spotlight is for anyone who has ever wanted to get their colors done!
Amanda is the owner of House of Colour in Zionsville, Indiana, where she helps clients discover the colors and styles that suit them best through in-person color analysis and style consultations.
I had my colors done a few years ago, and it has been life-changing. My makeup is so much more flattering, I finally found a blonde tone that really works for me, and getting dressed every morning is so much easier. I’m a summer btw :)
If you’ve ever been curious about color analysis, I can’t recommend it enough. Amanda is based in Indianapolis, but there are House of Colour consultants across the country, including several in the Chicagoland area.

Before & after photos of our home. Wow, it’s come a long way!
The first episode in my new series, DIY House Calls. I help my friend Christina learn how to caulk.
