The squishy center-left of Evangelical pro-life-ism has propagandized us for years that murdered children aren’t the only victims of abortion. Women, they say, are the “second victims” of the abortion industry.
For years, Southern Baptist ethicists like Russell Moore told us that supporting punishment for mothers who carry their children to the slaughterhouse to be euthanized and ripped apart by biological weed-whackers was un-Christlike. It was a godless position to hold and demonstrated that we just hated women. In fact, it was the men—the fathers, the doctors, the industry—who made them do it.
Under no circumstances could mothers ever be held accountable for their own actions. They were simply too frail and weak-minded to say no.
And now, in Massachusetts, we see the logical end to that detachment from reality come full circle, as a room full of women stand and cheer as House Bill 5595 becomes law.
