The Dinner Ritual · The Dinner Ritual: Lessons in Alchemy

Hi, I’m Jerrelle, the writer behind The Dinner Ritual, a space where you’re invited to reconnect with your highest Self. I’m here to help you take back your time, your sovereignty, your body and mind—especially if any of these parts felt lost or siphoned during the day. Through the act (and art) of cooking, we transform ordinary moments into sacred pauses, opportunities to ground into the body, tend to our mental health, and return to our innate, God-given sense of joy. Subscribe to join the mission and receive recipes, meditations, and healing rituals that will help you reclaim your passion for life and your well-being, one step at a time.

I was thinking a lot about how we’re conditioned to associate random things with success. Particularly, more— more fame, more followers, more options, more things to do. To think that more is synonymous with a better life, when in reality it usually just pulls us further away from the peace and clarity that comes with less.

I’m heading to the big city on Monday to do all the exciting media things for We Fancy (which, I can’t believe hits shelves in just a few weeks!) that I’ve been dreaming about for months. But honestly, while I’ve been prepping and interviewing for podcasts, TV, and newsletters, my mind kept returning here. All I’ve wanted to do was come write in this space, to sit with my thoughts and with you.

Even though my schedule didn’t have time for The Dinner Ritual, for my slow and deep moments of reflection and journaling, for meditation, for entertaining rest in this season of growth, my soul said:

girl, you better make time.

Because these are the things I want to be the pillars of my life and lifestyle, they are not an afterthought I hope to get to eventually. The glitteriness of the outside world is just an echo of the work that happens here. The fun stuff is like candy, but this is the work that nourishes me.

And so here I am, determined to prevent the burnout that overshadowed my last book tour, dropping everything else to finally finish and publish this post, to help myself and anyone else wrestling to find balance between stillness and doing.

There will always be a next thing to do, because there is no end to expansion. So what really is the rush? The magic moments live in the pauses, and the fastest path to wholeness is refinement, laser focus, and getting really good at decluttering.
